5 month old with stuffy nose

also you may feel mean but when bub crys let her cry for a little while because as you know yourself when you cry your nose always runs, it loosens it up and you can just wipe it away when it comes out.. doctors say you can let your baby cry for 10mins max

hey when my son had his first runny nose he was only 3 months and the only thing that would clear it up for a while was the suction thing... he hated it to but all you have to think is they will cry and everything but its going to make them feel better in the long run and will make you feel better knowing they can breath properly..

My daughter just had her first cold as well. You feel so bad for them when they try to fall asleep and can't breathe! The first night I ended up holding her in an upright position for most of it because it was worse for her on her back....But I found that both the humidifier and the use of saline drops worked the best and she only really suffered for the one night, then it started to get better. Hey Leslie, I had this happen to my son. I called the doctor and they told me all I could do was keep using the saline drops and suction as soon as you do the drops, and at night or when he was sleeping keep his head propped up. It helps things drain. After a few days he was doing better, but it took about 2 or 3 weeks for him to be completely fine. Good Luck.

Leslie it sounds like you are doing everything you are suppose to. When my little boy had a cold, I used the Johnson's brand vapor bath for babies. This really seemed to help loosen things up and help him breathe better.

A bath in a steamy bathroom might help. I take my little one for a bath with the bathroom door closed and the warm water helps clear his sinuses.

Yes I was going to say Baby vicks and a humidifier. Those both helped my daughter so much when she had a cold.

your doing all the right things! you can do the saline drops for noses. but pretty much thats about it and tylenol.

If you breastfeed you can use freshly expressed breastmilk just like you would the saline stuff. Put a few drops in baby's nose then squeeze or suction out.

my 5 month old has a bad cold and chesty cough as well. i use the eucarlyptus oil and it does work, i sprinkle some in her cot before she sleeps and on her clothes and it helps her breathe well during the night...its amazing, i also use the saline drops which is also quite good.

Trust me...by far the BEST piece of advice I have gotten!

 I see where you're going with this whole bobby pin thing, but why not use a q-tip? That's what I use, then you don't have to worry about the kleenex or it being dirty, use a new one every time! :)

I use saline drops, it's just saltwater. Put a drop in each side & be ready with a kleenex when it all comes pouring out. They can be used for daily hygiene purposes as well, not just when baby has a cold.

I used the "Little Noses" saline drops when my daughter had a cold several months back and was quite surprised with how well they loosened things up in there.
