I would like to start trying for another baby soon ... but I have yet to start getting my periods yet. I am still breast feeding, but since my daughter is eating real food I was hoping that the drop in breast feeding would jump start the periods .... hasn't worked though. Has anybody gotten pregnant without the return of their periods ?

My son is 8 months and he is still breastfed but now that he is eating 3 meals a day his consumption of my milk has dropped although I am having trouble getting him to drink out of a bottle or cup? Is anyone else having a problem with this? My periods returned after 6 months, wish they hadn't because they are pretty heavy and are lasting a full week:( when I was on the pill they only lasted for 3 days!!! Wishine hadn't come back yet!! Just enjoy it while u can sure they will return soon enough, a friend of mine got pregnant 3 months after giving birthday and hadn't had a period hope that helps good luck xx

With my first son I stopped breastfeeding at 14months old because by 12mths I had started to get my periods again, this time aroudn still no sign of them again which I just love but still dont trust just breastfeeding as my contraceptive so we choose condoms but if we wanted to conceieve then we would just leave alternative contraception and continue breastfeeding and when the time is meant to be it will happen, good luck with it.

Just wanted to know though my husband still says I get pre-menstral even though I do not have any periods - I say it is a cycle of tiredness, juggling work, 2 boys and a husband??? Anyone else accused of this? :-)

My children are 5 (son), 4(daughter). 2(daughter), 8ths(daughter).. My son and 2nd daughter are 16ths apart..My baby is 8 mths old and i started back about 3 mths ago.. Which stinks cause i was hoping that it would be like it was with my other children.. With my 2nd child i didn't start back untill 2 months after i stopped breastfeeding her... I think it all depends on your body. Having babies really close together can be hard on your body more than i think you can imagine so take it slow and just go with the flow.. What will be will be..

I agree...I'm still breastfeeding and pumping, but I've been regular for 4 months now...my son is 7 1/2 months old. Guess I'm thankful for the 13 months I didn't have my period! It has returned worse than before.....very frustrating.

thanks for all the advice ! I guess I have to just wait it out. I never thought that I would actually want to get my period back !!! It has been great not having a period, but I would like to start trying to conceive again.

No period yet either.

My midwife told me that when your body is physically capable of carrying another child safely, your period will begin again. Of course, this theory would only apply to exclusively breastfeeding moms and those not on a birth control pill. Your body was designed to get pregnant, give birth, breastfeed, and then get pregnant again. I think typically your period should return around one year, but that wouldn't be the same for every nursing mother. So, just allow nature to be in control and you'll get pregnant when your body says it's okay.

I have heard it is possible. I am just jealous that all of you responding are just now starting your periods. Mine came back when he was only 3 months old. : ( Of course I was back at work full time but was still pumping and breastfeeding. Oh well.

I think you can get pregnant even if you don't have your period yet, but there's a less chance. My son still breastfeeds every 1-3 hours and not eating any solid foods so I don't expect my period to come back until after he's a year. I'm not complaining though...

Cant reply to the getting pregnant part but I have gotten a "sort of period" back in the last few months. Since I have started to feed more solids its been trying to make a comeback and have had a light one every 3 weeks for the past few months. I would ask your doc. I think you can still get pregnant even though you dont have your preriod back.
