I went through this two years ago with my daughter and now that my son is almost 4 months old, I'm going through this again. I lose hair every time I wash, blowdry, brush, or even turn my head! Anyone else going through this too? Any suggestions to minimize this?

I am going through the same thing right now and my son is 3 months. I try to keep my hair moisturized, but I have read that there is nothing you can do about it and the hair will grow back.

Thank you all for your replies, I was really hoping that I can keep my thick and pretty hair, but no such luck so it seems. Back to my thin hair or should I be thinking about baby#3? LOL!! Thanks again!

yes im going through the same thing, my first is 15 1/2 weeks now and it has been happening for a few weeks, all i can say is im glad i had heaps to start with lol, im hoping it stops soon as for me it is really starting to get thin.

i have heard getting a shorter cut could help as it isn't as heavy but i can't say for sure as i haven't done that yet

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to minimize your hairloss. Just know that it will come to an end and it competely reverses back to your original amount of hair.

I went through it with my first son and was worried but I read it was normal. And I'm going through it again. It's sad my hair was finally thick and full...dream hair...and now it's falling out everywhere.

I feel your pain. I went through the same thing with my first child and now with my soon to be 4month old. I feel like i could have provided someone with a really nice wig about now. I would also love suggestions to minimize the loss.

It's a condition called Telogen Effluvium and can occur 3 to 6 months after any physically or mentally stressful event in a person's life. Especially pregnancy. While you're pregnant your hair is pushed into a resting phase and stops shedding. Once you've had the baby all those hairs that didn't shed while you were pregnant will start to come out. It will seem like a huge amount for awhile but will begin to balance itself out. Your hair will be just as thick as it was prepregnancy once the cycle is complete.

Well hi again :) It's very common. When you're pregnant you don't go thorugh your regular hair cycle (of shedding and growing). So after the baby is born you have to catch up. I've read that it should go back to normal after a few months. Mine just started too and my baby is 3 1/2 months. It's a little depressing because my hair was so thick and pretty.
