So far my baby girl will be one year on May 12th and she still doesn't have the confidence to take unassisted steps. She'll not only walk in her walker but run and chase everyone including pets around the house. She'll hold on to funiture and take steps, I've even had her hold on to the back of her walker and she'll walk. When I try while holding her hands to let her go to try to get her to walk, she gets scared and sits down. I've even tried to bait her by having someone else hold her up and I stand a couple of feet away from her but she still just wont do it. She'll reach for me as far as she can but when she realizes she can't reach me, she gets frustrated and cries. I just figure she'll do it in her own time but, in the mean time I'll still keep encouraging her to do it on her own.

My daughter will be one next week, she stands on her own and doesn't want help while she is standing, she will turn around and reach out for you, then take a few steps then fall down, she will get back up and do it again, she is getting better at trying to walk by herself. I just hope she doesn't do it while she is at her fathers house!!! Let you child take the time, he/she will catch on..

My baby Aaron has been walking for 2 weeks! Once they go they go. Push toys help alot. I think what pushed him to start walking was on our vacation we didn't have any of his push toys and he wanted to get around.

My son stands and cruises but, not walking on his own. My husband expected him to walk by now because at this age he was. I told him our son will walk when he's good and ready, and before.

Auri started walking at 9 months and is now climbing and trying to run. I wanted her to walk soo bad and now I already understand when everyone says "Let them be babies!" The other day she climbed on our fireplace and was walking on it like a balance beam. Ahh! ;)

Caleb will be one on May 13. He started walking about two weeks ago. He's still pretty wobbly about it and not real consistant, but he's definitely walking. He's been cruising with his walking toys and around the furniture for about three months now. He's soo adorable!

My son started walking at 10 months, he now tries to run but usually falls because he goes way to fast that the rest of his body can't catch up with his feet! He is climbing stairs faster than lighting and getting on and off of the furniture by himself!! :) He's growing up to fast!

My son took his first steps at 10 months; he's now 11.5 and walking/running around like a little Frankenstein monster. I had a walker, but he did not like to use it because it moved too fast. He really liked to push around boxes and laundry baskets.

Yes. my son started at 10 mos. people say girls learn how to walk faster but I dont believe that. My daughter (now 3 yrs old) started walking after her first birthday. My son started walking confidently when he turned 10 months, taking little steps at 9mos. If your son isn't walking yet, dont worry. They'll walk on their time. You do want to sorta help them like getting a push cart. if you dont want to spend money, get an empty box or bucket that is waist level to your son and have him push that around the house. That worked for me. Good luck.

yeah it is fab, he is taking really big steps and can make it all the way across the living room. but when he cant be bothered he takes two steps then crawls the rest.

My son, 11 1/2 months old started walking about 2 weeks ago. I agree that push toys do help a lot! Your baby will start walking when he/she is ready! My goddaughter didn't start walking till she was about 15 months old so every baby is different.

My daughter will be 1 on May 8th, and she started walking at 10.5 months...She can kind of "run" now...its cute! and she can stomp her feet, she loves doing that, pretty funny and cute to see..lol...
My son who is almost 3 started walking at 13 months, and a couple weeks after he started, he twisted his foot and broke it, he had a little blue cast on for 6 weeks, and it was during the summer, not fun, but he didnt seem to mind, he kept walking as if he had no cast on..lol The doc. said it is pretty common...my fingers are crossed that my daughter doesnt do the same, she's alot more brave than my son was....she was climbing up stairs at 10 months too... good luck! =)

My son is trying. He can stand unassisted, but most of the time he won't take that first step- he just sits down. But he'll walk in his walker, holding someone's hand, holding onto furniture, or even if he's pushing something. He's taken a couple steps on his own but falls down pretty quick- he's covered in bruises to show he's trying! lol
