My 9 month old loves watching Baby Einstein. I have been told by a mother that I am wasting my money on buying Baby Einstein material. Apparently, it has "been proven not to work, so some parents are outraged". What are your thoughts on it? Do you use it or have you?

I have one.. look who knows if it works. i think by now we should all have realised that all children are different.. even if watching it your childs not learning as much as you thought she would, who cares if she likes it then id keep buying it.. just like children watching thomas the tank! do they learn from it? not really but they like watching it... and im sure she will lear something, from what i have seen from it its is pretty educational. all young children learn from watching and listening

My daughter is almost 9 months old, she hasnt watched a baby einstein video in a while because she is bored with the 2 we have but we found a few other videos that are pretty much the same with the songs, colours, letters, numbers, movements and everything. We dont use them as educational videos either more just entertainment for her (she gets bored about 15- 20 min in anyways) but I would much rather her watch that even in the background then grown up tv because she has to be picking up on some of it and colours and numbers are much better for a baby than sex and violence.

I am not sure about the Baby Einstein videos but my son loves this channel called BabyFirstTV and he loves that. He learns colors, music, Spanish, numbers and even sign language. In the morning while I am getting my older girls ready for school I put him in the jumper and he watches that channel.

my little man loves them. we don't use them as educational videos, more like entertainment or back ground noise when playing.

My son is 8 months old he has been watching baby einstein movies for two months now...they are the only movies that catch his attention and keep it through the whole movie. I love them. He has been talking a lot more and saying more sounds other then mama and baba.

Maybe the videos have changed since my son used watched them. almost 7 years ago. It was just a bunch of spinning toys. There wasn't anything to interact with. the videos we bought for my daughter are much better and I can sit with her and sing the songs and do what the babies are doing. These give me lots of ideas on how to play little things with her.

My son loves Baby Einstein, and I find he has learnt things. He's 8 months and knows what rock, jump, bounce mean because of the videos. He loves the colours, and the silly characters make him laugh! I doubt they can hurt them, I'm not relying on the videos to teach him anything, but they definitely entertain him while I get a bit of housework done.

I love baby einstein it gives me ideas and great interaction with my children. I think as long as you dont use it too much and also watch and interact with them . I dont think you can rely on any product to teach your child it comes from their parents but we all need inspiration which is what these products provide.

We used the videos for my son. My son didn't start talking until he was two and very few words. He seemed very slow. We switched our daughter (8months old) to the your baby can read videos and she already seems far more advanced then our son was. The Einstein videos really do not help educationally, and we haven't let our daughter watch them. My son did love watching them though. I'm sure they don't hurt your child, but they are a waste of money for educational purposes in my opinion.
