diaper rash

Is she on a milk based formula? My 3 year old had problems with dairy when he was younger, but we realized it when he started on formula at 4 months old. I'd think that if she is tolerating the dairy in her formula than she should be fine with milk.

My daughter has had diarrhea on a couple occasions and I think it was either teething or some kind of virus. I really doubt it's the milk too.

I wouldn't stop completely, but cut back. My daughter is 1 tomorrow and she gets diarrhea every once in awhile if she drinks too much milk. It usually goes away by the next day and I give her more water and formula in the meantime. Also make sure to give enough solids and binding foods to help firm up her stool.

No don't stop, I was told by alot of people when my little guys got a rash for no reason "they just get them sometimes for no reason", but I couldn't give my little guy homo milk he broke out in a rash from the front of him to the back of him, so now I only give him 2% and he is fine with that, and he has been on that since he was approx. 6 months.

I already stopped the milk though! Yikes! I guess I will just stay with formula until my doc appt. I am using vasoline and cornstarch. I never considered lotramin...this one is pretty bad so maybe I will get some. Thanks everyone, your support really helps!

Tyneisha is right :) When my son was teething and cut his first couple teeth, he had diarrhea for 3 days! It was horrible, and he developed the worst rash. To help with the rash I alternated between "Butt Paste" and "Lotrimin" cream (the stuff for jock itch). My doctor said the lotrimin would help with the fungal infection of the diaper rash, and the butt paste would help keep things dry.

I wouldn't stop the milk. Being lactose intolerant myself, I usually show signs within 20-30mins after consuming a milk product without taking some kind of lactaid first.

I think it's teething. If she was intolerant to the milk, it would have manifested pretty quickly. Teething produces runny stools because of all the drooling. My son's diapers are always runny when he teethes. I always felt whole milk to be too rich. I never gave it to my son. He drinks 2 percent. He's not on formula anymore and he'll be one in 3 days. For the diaper rash. Use baby powder to dry it up. The cream will only irritate it. Once it's healed a little and the redness is gone, use a very thin layer of cream on her. but powder will heal it quickly because it'll absorb the moisture.

it's her teething. lily, my soon to be 1 year old, didn't have a fever the first time she cut her teeth but this time she has a low grade fever. each time they cut a tooth, or more than a tooth, it's different than the last, or the same sometimes.

but like what ashleigh said, it could be that lucy is lactose intolerant. hope the doctor's visit goes well!

thanks! She has an appointment on Monday. We stopped milk and went back to formula to see if it will clear up. my husband is lactose intolerant so that makes me wonder if she is too...

Teething will cause acid in the stool which will cause diaper rash. Also, my nephew was on whole milk and began to have bad diarrhea and had to be switched to lactose free milk. talk to your pediatrician about switching to lactose free and see if that helps with the diarrhea. The rash is probably the acid in the stool from teething...and the diarrhea is making it worse.
