Does your 10 month old still use a baby bathtub or are they in the regular bathtub?

My ten month old is terrified of the big bath! We tried to slowly introduce it. We've played in it without water and he's fine. We put his baby bathtub in the big bath too....but he hates the big tub! He screams in terror! We can't keep bathing him at the kitchen sink in the baby tub anymore because he gets water literally EVERYWHERE! Any recommendations to make it a less traumatic experience would be greatly appreciated!

My 12 months is exactly the same. She's been in the baby bath, in front of the fire, watching baby tv and playing with my 9 year old son and 12 year old daughter - Now I write it down it seems like that's a lot more fun than the big bath, even with toys. She won't even go in with me.
She's so happy normally but the 'big bath' must look like 'a step too far'...
Sorry I'm no help but if you find something that works - please pass it on - you're not the only one!

It just depends. I currently bath her in her baby tub inside of the big tub. I have a two year old also so that get bathed at the same time. I tried letting her bathe in the big tub with her sister but she kept moving around too much trying to play. I do both.

I bought an inflatable rubber ducky looking bathtub for my son, and put it in the big bath. He loves it. That helped him get used to getting in the big tub because he was also scared of it at first. I also tried taking baths with him sometimes, and that's also helped.

Great trick for babies who can SIT UP ON THIER OWN - get a larger rectangular laundy basket. Put a few inches of water in the tub so that it comes into the washbasket about an inch or two. Your baby will still be able to get used to the "big" bathtub, but you won't have the added worry of escaping or falling out of reach. Put his/her toys inside & have a great time!

Once my little man saw me in the big tub he was ok with it! He has been taking a bath in the "big tub" for about 3 months now! He was too big for the baby tub when he was about 6 months old but I was scared to put him in the big tub until he could crawl! Maybe let him see you taking a bath or take one with him to see if that helps! Good luck!!

When we got rid of the baby bath I started out taking baths with my daughter. it was easier to keep her settled down. she could climb into my lap and feel safer. The bad thing was she would try to nurse in the tub. Now she doesn't mind the big tub. It doesn't need to be filled up too deep. She was afraid of the running faucet for a while, I think it was the noise. It's better if the tub is ready when I put her in it.

My son just turned eleven months and i still use a baby tub, i just use it on the bathroom on the shower floor. as i don't have a regular bath tub at my house but the baby tub he has he can use it to he is about one and a half. I started giving my son a shower with me. he might like that if you ever tried that. i just put him on the shower floor with bath toys and i wash up. then i wash him up. he likes it alot.Or you can put the baby tub in the big tub and wash him in there and he can make a mess there with all the water and then do that till he is comfortable and then try and put him int he big tub or you can take a bath with him in the big tub so show him that its not that bad at all. well i hope that the advise that i gave you will help you out in anyway it can

are you running the water when he is in the tub? because my little guys hated hearing the water running I think it hurts their little ears. try giving him a shower or letting him play in the water while you have a shower, this way he will see that you are in the there so maybe it won't be so scarry for him.

Hi. My son is now turning 11 months in a few days. My son actually loves more the tub then his lil tub, but I think when he was four months I put him in the shower with me and he loved it, I actually havn't set him on the tub but i do carry him in the shower, have you tried showering with him? Maybe that might help him to start liking the tub. But not all kids take everything easy. Maybe your son is not ready for it take it step by step he will let you know when his ready if you keep pushing it on him he might get more terrified. Maybe you should fill the tub and you get in and ask him to go with you, maybe that might help. But don't worry he will like it on his timing. Keep update to see how your baby is doing.

For a little one who is fearful of the bath I'd recommend getting in with him. I think having you in there to splash around would make him more comfortable and secure. I think this is a great way to bond with baby too.

My sons still in a baby bath, its the aqua tub though so it's quite big. He goes in the lie down part to get washed and splash then into the sit up part. He also gets a shower in it as well sometimes lol. But he loves water.

I still clean the kitchen sink real well, then put a towel in the sink so that he can sit and lean back on it. Then five him a bath- he loves it and screams when i take him out. But when the water gets cold, play time is over!

We use the regular bathtub with one of those little seats that encircle him. The easiest thing for me is to clean out the kitchen sink real well and then plop him in there. It is not as large as the tub (saving me from a lot of back pain to say the least), so he feels more secure.

We got ours a blow up duck bath. He loves it. However, when we visit my mom, who lives out of town, we don't bring the duck. He screams in her bath.

My daughter was terrified of the big bath tub....she would scream and cry...it was a hassel for a bit, we switched from the baby one to the big one a couple months ago...shes now almost 11 months....what i did is i took a bath with her, she held on really tight to me, but after a bit, she relaxed and i gave her some toys to play with....i just stayed really calm and let her take the lead...when she was ready to let go of me she did...the water got cold so i turned on the faucet and she was a little scared of it but, she got over that quick, when i put my hand in it and i think she realized that it was ok....now we put her in the tub with her older brother and she splashes around and loves it! my son isnt much of a "water baby" he absolutly hates getting water in his face, so when we rinse his hair we put a face cloth over his eyes and he tilts his head back..... i think for a 10 month old, it more so the fear of the unknown....jump in the tub with him and make it fun, but go slow at first until he warms up to the idea... hope this helps =)

my daughter still gets bathed in a baby tub. my heating in the bathroom dosnt work so its always freezing in there. i bath her in her room or my room and i dont see a problem with it. firstly it saves me water because the tubs much smaller. And secondly she hasnt got loads of space to wriggle around and escape when i wash her hair (she hates to have her hair washed and tries to crawl away lol). when it gets to summer and the weather is much warmer she will bath in the big tub but until then shes in the baby tub in a warm room.

My daughter is still in a baby tub. We plop her in, soap her up, rinse her off, and then out she goes. I've put her in the big tub a couple times (with her older brother), but then she stands up and it's more difficult to wash her face and hair. I find it a lot easier to just wash them off quickly in a baby tub. I'm not sure why a baby under one needs to be in the tub more than 2-5 minutes anyway... just my opinion.

My son didn't move to the regular tub until he was 15 months old, but when we transitioned him, we always filled the tub while he was in the other room. It was at that point that we allowed bath time to be fun and not just for getting clean. It worked great for us and the transition was pretty easy.

I transitioned my baby into the big-girl tub at about 6 months, when she could sit up unassisted. I've noticed that when there's too much water in the tub, or when the water is running she gets scared.

Both my boys have used the big bath from the age of 2/3 months as they were both getting to big for the baby one. Have you tried the Babydan Bath dam......it fits across the middle of the bath, splitting it in half so it might not be as scary for him xxx

Since my son's chord fell off he's been bathed in a baby bath in the big tub. once he turned 6 months, and able to sit up on his own well, we put him in the tub, we bought the foam letters he loves playing with them and i only fill the water up about 3 inches, it's enough to dip him back and rinse out his hair but that he can crawl around in the tub and have full control.

we bathe our daughter in the kitchen sink. she loves it & it saves my back! do you get in the tub w/ him? maybe that would help soothe his anxiety...or maybe play w/ him in it w/o any water for a few minutes each day. that way he can recognize that it's not a scary place.

Have you tried one of those blowup duck bathes? You can get them at Target and I think walmart also. Keirnan had one for awhile until I was comfortable putting him in the big tub. It was great and its small enough that he won't feel overwhelmed! We are actually out of it now, but it was helpful for a couple months when he was too big for the baby bath and too small for the tub!

Have you tried going in the big bathtub with him? Maybe you have to take a bath with him until he is comfortable with it.
