We were able to know the sexes of the babies early because we had lots of concerns early on... One twin had a cycstic hygroma. So I've been ultrasounded countless times and when I went to have my amnio on both babies this past Friday (at 16 wks) the ultrasound tech was able to tell. Although we are THRILLED to FINALLY be having a girl, we aren't buying pink just yet. We'll wait for absolute confirmation when we get the amnio results back. Good news though... At the ultrasound at the amnio the cystic hygroma was no longer detectable - good sign that nothing is wrong!! Looks to be just one of those fluke things that make you stress early on. You'll be fine having twins as your first children... Just think, you don't know any different!! After having two single babies, I on the other hand, am SUPER worried about how much more demanding twin newborns will be!! Plus I've still got to care for two very active 5 & 3 year old boys!!!

Congratulations Tracey! I don't have ANY kids yet and I'm nervous about being able to handle twins!! LOL My husband has cousins that are twins but I was taking Clomid for 2 months (to regulate my cycle - not necessarily for infertility) when we got pregnant. So ... I'm not sure what exactly contributed to twins but we're happy either way :) Wow, that's great you already know the sexes of your twins!! My next appt is 11/25 so maybe we'll be able to see too! That would be so exciting. We were told by my OB that we were having fraternal twins because he saw two seperate sacks, however, my perinatologist said that although they are in two sacks, they share one placenta - making them identical. Were you thrilled to see you were having a girl?? Eden is a beautiful name!

Yes!! I'm expecting twins!! I currently have two boys, ages 5 & 3. These twins were a TOTAL shock!! No history in either side of our families and we didn't use any fertility drugs or treatments. I'm pretty nervous about how I'm going to handle the demands of being a mom to the two boys, plus I know from experience how demanding a newborn can be (now double that demand)!! My husband is a teacher, so about 2 months after the babies are born (assuming they don't come early) he'll be home for the summer!! I fear those could be a LONG 2 months!!
