Hi,
I'm still worried that my twins aren't getting enough to eat besides baby food & milk. I've been introducing new foods and all they do is spit it out or fuss. Our menu only really consists of : waffles (sometimes), baby foods, yogurt, bananas, watermelon, some toast, Gerber raviolis (sometimes), apple sauce, crackers, cheese (hit or miss) raisins, once and a while mac n cheese (they'll eat it a day or two then hate it again like I tried to give them poison!! ) and lots of milk. I'm sooooo frustrated. They get crabby, but refuse to try veggies or fruits or other foods. Oatmeals or cereal don't work either. They are 15 months old now and should have a better variety then they are getting. We've tried lunch meats, other fruits, veggies, pastas, mashed potatoes, pb&j sandwiches, eggs, pancakes, muffins, and I'm sure lots of other foods.. As I said it's so frustrating... Any suggestions. I know that we should keep trying and we are, but I'm so frustrated that I can't think!!!

Thanks,
Tristin

Sorry to interject but....peanut butter is NOT a big no-no unless there is a family history of allergies. I started giving my son pb and eggs (not together) at 9 months and the dr. encouraged it! I do like the advice of giving them the baby version of whatever you are eating. If they love pureed carrots, soft cook and cube some carrot pieces and just keep offering those different foods. I think its normal for them to refuse to eat it and just play at first. Eventually they'll try it and might figure out that its just as good as the mashed version.

My lo is going through a fussy phase right now and won't eat anything I offer except pancakes, eggs, cheese (shredded, stick, shapes), fruit granola bars - like nutrigrain, pasta, and ground beef. She also would eat her brothers popcorn if we didn't keep it away from her....I think her pickiness is because she has 2 molars and a bottom tooth coming in all at once and her mouth hurts. It sounds like the food consistancy might have something to do with your guys avoiding it. My daughter only likes shredded wheat when its really soggy and doesn't like regular oatmeal, she still eats the baby oatmeal. If it is a consistancy thing they will work through it eventually and just might be late bloomers. You can also try those gerber hot dogs ....or we just give a vienna sausage or two every once in awhile. Hope that helps.

ok, first of all I've never had twins or fussy babies, but I have dealt with them at daycare where I worked for over 4 years. My second wasn't ready for food as early as most people put kids on food, he wouldn't eat cereal until he was 7 mos, and he couldn't digest meat until he was about 15 mos old. Also peanut butter is a big no-no until kids are 3 or 4 (allergy and choking reasons) if they are still on formula it shouldnt be as big an issue...and I would try one new food a week. It is also normal for a toddler to love a food for a few days then refuse it. If they are willing to eat baby food, maybe they aren't ready for solid food yet. Something else to try is mix regular rice in with baby food, or chop up meat and mix it with baby food. I made most all of my baby food for my 2 kids and generally it was made from whatever we were eating. pureed spaghetti, chicken cassarole, or just rice, chopped up veggies mixed with a jar of baby peas. slow down, maybe they just aren't ready for grownup food yet, and they aren't the only ones! =)
