IS STANDING UP HOLDING ON TO SOMETHING UNUSUAL FOR A 17 WEEK OLD BABY???

hey im kirsty ... 19 years old mum to leon surensoy who is 17 weeks old today.. 4 months old on wednesday... i just wanted to ask other mums if u were experiencing the same with ur little one.. leon can actually hold him self up..standing against the sofa and holding on to it..im shocked as i did not think they could do this till like after 6 months of age.. he is actually standing up by holding himself up against something on his own..also he is sitting up for about 10 seconds at a time..on his own and rolling all over the place... any one elses babies doing this??

I would have to say no, only because my son Zaire is 4mths 2wks old & has been standing up since he was born. My mom said I was walking by the time I was 6mths old, she says i never crawled jut walked......sounds like it times to get some shoes on him because he is going to be walking out the door soon....lol

Evan's favorite "game" is walking while holding our fingers, he's been doing this for over 2 months. He only seems interested in forward motion, no standing still yet.

My lil Kameron loves to be up on his feet, has since about 6weeks. He hates laying down or any position that feels like sleep. Got him a jumperoo and he gets so excited.

kudos. to you! I wish my 4 month old was doing that. Connor refused to do anything but lye on his back kick his legs like he is running a air marathon and flail his arms around like a new bird learning to fly. We have tried everyday to get him to even try and stand on his legs. He has to be the laziest baby ever..lol And tummy time a joke. The moment his tummy hits the floor. He screams like someone is killing him. I was starting to think that something was wrong with him. Is there? I don't know anymore. My daughter was standing with assistance by the time she was 2 months. And walking by the time she was 10 months. Not Connor he acts like his legs are made of jello. What did you do to get him to stand so fast?

My little boy (born 12 may 2009) has been doing it since he was about three and half months old. Sometimes he refuses to sit which can be frustrating but oh so cute!

My son did and he was walking unassisted BEFORE his 9 month Dr. appointment... so look out world, your little Leon may be an early walker! :)

My daughter won't be 4 months old until the 30th and she can stand but only for a few seconds... I'm kind of hoping she'll wait to take her first steps until she's closer to one (so I don't encourage it too much). I'm not sure I can keep up with two walkers. :)

Mine isn't but it is normal, so don't worry. They can sit and stand supported anywhere around 4-6 months.
