i have a 5 month old and he just started on formula...i was breastfeeding for 4 1/2 months. he has to be on soy so the doc told me to give him 1 oz of prune or apple juice to 2 oz of water. he has to have it once a day to keep him going but he loves it and i dont see a problem with giving them juice. my doc also told me that as they get older and drink regular milk, they dont need as much milk as when they were on formula. i would say that as long as you dilute the juice and its not the only things she drinks, you should be good. i always give my son juice at lunch time so he poops before bed.

your suppose to start juice at 6 months because of the acid, and for allergys. no more then 4 ounces a day.

I have given my little one juice for about 2 months now but I dilute it with water. I also use the gerber juices so that it is only natural juice and no sugar. The only sugar that our babies would be getting is from the natural fruit that the juice is made from and no extra added sugar.

I don't like the idea of giving baby juice all the time because they can be just as satisfied with water and milk(formula) which are much better for baby but I have given my son who will be 6 months next week diluted apple prune juice when he's having trouble pooping & now that I think I'm getting sick I've bought him another kind of baby fruit juice by Heinz to give him a vitamin C boost in case he gets sick as well. I usually mix 2 ounces water for every ounce of juice.

i'm going to try and steer clear of the juice because of all the sugar. i was told not to give baby any sweets until she's eating veggies. if they have the sweets first they wont want the veggies as much.

Why is juice necessary? My son is almost 3 and has only rarely had juice to drink... he still drinks milk all the time.

yes, my baby has been on juice for months. the doctor told me for every month old he is, that's how many ounces he can have a day. he's 5 months so he can have 5oz. however, i don't give him alot bc it goes right through him, haha. i would start your little one off with just an oz or so so you know how it will affect their poop =)
