Hey everyone! Looking for your expertise :)

My younger son (13 months) is a very picky eater - Not the kind that takes a bite and then spits it out, but the kind that won't even take a bite. I am NOT willing to try forcing him to eat, for the record.

So I'm wondering if any of you have recipes that worked for your children when they were younger, if they were picky eaters. I am doing searches and trying things as well, I just thought I would look for some tested and true recipes :)

If it helps, here is a list of what he will eat:

- strawberries, blueberries and bananas
- yogurt
- peanut butter and jam
- bread (especially cheese bread)
- cheese
- toddler fruit-filled cereal bars
- crackers
- pizza (usually just the dough with a bit of the sauce)

He does not like pastas, which we've tried in many forms. He enjoys playing with it, but that's it.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to try to be clear.

Thanks in advance for any help. Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Have you tried making your own popsicles? You can sneak different fruits / yogurt / flax seed, etc. into them.

Also, try playing with temperature. My picky eater loves things that are frozen, but if those same foods were warmed up he wouldn't touch them.

Another thing that worked for us is making a face out of his food on the plate. Sometimes he's willing to try things if they're in a "silly" context.

I have a nephew who went through a picky eating phase, I swear he lived off of ramen noodles and cottage cheese for a year! Have you tried allrecipes.com I love that website, that's where I get a lot of my dinner ideas; I have even seen little posts about picky eaters... sorry I couldn't be anymore help... good luck momma!

I'm not sure about specific recipes, but what seems to work for us is racing. For example, my husband says, "I'll race you! I'll bet I can eat this (fill in the blank) faster than you!" this works often. Once she takes a couple of bites and likes it. If she doesn't like it, I tell her she has to eat an acceptable amount (as determined by me) and then she can have something she wants like yogurt, fruit, or a homemade popsicle. This works often, too. I think the key is to not give in and fix a separate meal for your child. The expectation is that he/she will eat what everyone else is eating (within reason) and that he/she will eat an appropriate child-sized portion of a balanced meal. Important here is also that I eat what's on the table, as well. I can't expect her to eat something I'm not willing to eat. Last, I would suggest mixing up things your son likes with new flavors and textures. See if there's something new he likes and run with it. At 13 months, it's important that he eats. Period. All of the things on your list sound pretty healthy.

Hope this helps.
