My 9 and a half month old daughter loves pureed bananas! And when she had her 9 month appt. a few weeks ago my doc said that she should start trying other foods that are mashed and such since she cant chew foods , with no teeth anyways, i tried her favourite type of fruit which is bananas and well she hated them mashed , wouldnt even take it.

I don't feed mashed foods, just bits of things they they can mash on their own. The gums are very strong and do a great job of breaking up foods. Have you read anything about Baby Led Weaning?

Here are some other good food ideas: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/T030600...

My 9 1/2 month old daughter does the sme thing- she has a difficult time with textured food. I am slowly trying to sneak it chunkier food but she still gags. But it will come with time from what I am told.
That mesh thing that Tami is talking about is the greatest thing my daughter loves hers as well, I put cookies, bananas...

My daughter does the same thing. She loves peas when they are pureed, but if a whole or even half of a pea slips into her jar, she'll spit it right out. It's a texture thing... just keep trying to slowly introduce chunkier foods, as Ricky suggested

maybe try mixing the mashed and pureed bananas together. She is most likely not used of the chunkier texture. slowly increase the amount and size of chunks in her food. If you are introducing other foods start the same way with smoother textures and if the flavour is too strong mix it in with some baby food and slowly increase the amount of food into the cereal until she is solely eating just the food.
