My daughter started sleeping through the night at 11 weeks. Now, she is 5-months-old and wakes up every 3 hours. What has changed?? What can I do??

I agree with the cereal. We started adding a little bit of cereal when she was about 2 months old and as she's getting older add a little more. She eats a cereal and fruit or veggie dinner around 530 then her nightime bottle with cereal around 730 and she's good to go for the night.

I have been giving her rice/oatmeal mixed with a fruit/vegetable 2 times a day & a fruit/vegetable in between. I nurse her until she falls asleep. She is still waking up for that middle-of-night feeding. It must be a growth spurt!

My bubba went through a growth spurt recently and started waking up at 3am for another feed. I thought it was time to feed her solids but didn't want to because of all the research about feeding to early. So I persisted with the extra feeds for about 2 weeks and now she doesn't have an extra feed anymore and sleeps through again yay! Just be patient It may just be a growth spurt?? Good Luck :-)

she could be going through a growth spurt, or that this is an indication that she is ready to start weaning. althoug i wouldnt recomend putting rice in a bottle, try mixing a tsp of baby rice with a couple of oz of milk (breast or formula), and feed her using your finger or a small weaning spoon. ideal time is halfway through her evening feed, around 6-7ish, then finish off rest of bottle like normal.

that worked for zachery, and hes now on 2 meals a day bless him. also, i have worked as a nanny for many years and found that worked with the babies i have cared for too :)

My son was also sleeping through very early, but a couple of weeks ago started waking at 2am (and some nights also at 11pm). I didn't change anything, but just gave him the extra feed and in the last 3 nights he's been sleeping through again. I haven't worked out why he was waking up again, but seeing as though its resolved itself, I'm not going to lose any more sleep over it! Good luck, I hope she sleeps through soon again.

some babies just change their pattern of sleep, it could be she is having a growth spurt and needs more feeds, make sure you stick to a good night time routine and try to cut the feeds down O/N gradually.

she may also be starting to teeth and her poor little gums are sore.

i really strongly don't suggest cereal unless told by a paediatricion (spelling) as babies aren't suppost to start solids until 6 months.

i recomend having a chat with your CHN and working out what would be the best way to solve the problem.

i must admit you are lucky she did sleep through the night my daughter never has and she still wakes up every 3 to 2 hours for a feed

Do you add rice cereal to her bottle yet? My son did the same thing and we figured out he was just getting hungry. We started adding a couple tablespoons of rice cereal to his bottle (starting with 1, then adding more) and now he is back to sleeping! Yay! Not sure if this will help but you never know.
