My lil man will be 6 months on the 18th. He can sit up and eats baby food from a jar and is already trying to feed himself with the spoon! I'm thinking about starting to givem the puffs and yogurt melts. He just starting to teethe but doesn't have any yet. Is it safe to give him the puffs and melts? Also, is anyone on stage 2 baby food yet??

Another thing. Does anyone else think they'll have an early walker? Mine just will not get the hang of crawling, he always ends up just rolling over onto his back. But he can sure stand up when hes holding onto something and scoots around in his walker. his legs are so strong!!!

Quoting Phyllis:

My daughter will be 6 months on the 23rd. So can turn herself into circles and is desperatley trying to get the hang of crawling but gets mad and gives up. We haven't started the puffs yea, I was about to ask other moms so I am glad someone else did. We have given her some level 2's but we are trying to finish up what we have while working in some 2's.She has very strong legs and loves to pull herself into a standing position when holding her, she also sits up very well on her own so anytime now not sure if she will just skip crawling and go straight to walking

try to possiton her legs and hand to crowling possition  when she's in her  tummy, because my son likes to be in his tummy and he use his arm to move around but when I bent his legs to the crowlingpossition he does back and port, and now he try to do it him self. good luck, I am not in a hurry to make mine crowle, because my first baby just everywere and none stop.

I will recomend stay with baby food for a while, once he get the taste of the other stuff he will not go back to the baby food. My first baby doesnt like veggies anymore and he use to love it when I didnt introduce the junk food. good luck...

sounds like my little girl...she's been eating 2nd stage food for a few weeks, plus she enjoys teething biscuits. i've been thinking about trying the puffs soon. also on the crawling/walking front, i think she may very well walk before she crawls. she has no desire to go anywhere when on her belly. no attempt to crawl has happened, but standing and 'walking' are high on her list of things to do!!

My little man is six months old and eats jar food really well, but will not eat cereal....must be a texture thing...anyway, i gave him the yogurt melts and puffs (i tried them first, they are pretty yummy and literally melt right away) and he was fine. He has two bottom teeth but since the food melts, he doesnt need to use his teeth. He doest mash it with his gums....so i think you are ok to let your little one try them.

My little one just turned 6 months old yesterday! She hasn't gotten the hang of the whole crawling thing, but she loves to turn herself in circles! She can pull herself by her arms and be facing the other way in no time. Now if she would just apply that to pulling forward, we'd be moving in the right direction! :) We actually just tried puffs last night for the first time. I broke them into little pieces at first, but my husband assured me that they would be alright whole and she did perfectly fine! She loved them...I got the peach flavored ones. She is definitely eating all stage 2 foods now - she's just not too fond of the meats yet, but we're working on it. She's gotta eat the turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day, right? :) I haven't tried biter biscuits yet, but a friend suggested them yesterday and I think since she did so well with the puffs, I might give it a try. That way she can practice bringing it to her own mouth (we have to feed her the puffs). It's been a lot of fun watching her change and I have loved entering into these new stages!

Well Jake is eating the puffs now. He didn't like them at first and would gag on them. But he likes them now. We're also giving him "biter biscuits" from Gerber and he loves those as well, since he's teething. He really just gums on them and makes a terrible mess of it, lol. He's still not picking stuff up on his own to eat yet. He's grabbing at everything though! And we are now on stage 2 food! Still not crawling, and he can't really pull himself up yet, but he is standing if he has a table or some hands to hold onto :-) He won't move his feet though, he'll just stand there like, what am I supposed to do now? lol It's still a little early though so I'm not worried. I'm excited for christmas and getting him some kind of push/ride on toy! Any suggestions??

My son just turned 6 months on the 9th. Hes been holding his bottle since 4 months and is on all stage 2 baby food. He isnt really into the crawling, and would rather sit up, stand and jump. Im sure he will be an early walker, he is so strong. Im really glad you brought this up. I have been thinking about the puffs when a waitress suggested it while we were at dinner. My son cut his first tooth as well. Now I know other moms with kids the same age are doing the same thing. Whats best? the puffs or the melts?

my lil one is coming up to 6 months now and he is not in the slitest bit interested in laying on the floor for long or crawling
The only thing he will do is lift him self up with his arm
but gets bored in 2 mins
He has been pushing him self up on to his feet since he was about 5 weeks old
he now demands to be on his feet and when u hold him up on the floor facing away from u he will march like he is saying
"just let go of me i want to walk"
lol he has yet to pull him self up but i am sure that once he can sit by himself
he will in no time be getting up on his feet i have yet to get him a walker

My first son skipped crawling and went straight to crusing the furniture around 7 months. He tried crawling but went backwards and always ended up sitting on his bottom so it is possible that babies can be early walkers.

I would check the age on the puffs and go by that since I know Riley is still just moving the food around with is tongue so I would be afraid that he would try swallow it before it disolved in his mouth.

Hi Ashley, I think my boy too will be a walker before he crawls. He has just gone 6months on Friday - At the moment he can pull himself up to standing and happily walks around the room holding onto your hands, but no matter how hard i try to convince him that being on his tummy his fun, he is determined to stand instead - as soon as your hands are near and he manages to grab them, that's it he will be standing, he stands there laughing and smiling with a cheeky grin on his face and looks at me like he has just done the most awesome thing in the world lol. Once his little legs are tired, he will sit back down, then once he's had enough of sitting he'll be reaching back out again to stand back up.

He's onto stage 2 food now - no problems eating the smooth stuff still in that range, but as soon as anything lumpy comes near him he starts coughing and gagging - managing to eat a little bit more each day though, drinking out of a sipper cup, even drinks out of my cup if i have a glass of water cheeky little rat, happily picking food up himself and putting it in his mouth (see i don't understand this, he will eat a rusk or banana and bite bits of it and eat it with no problems yet it gags on his dinner??), holds his own bottle - in fact he doesn't like me holding his bottle unless he's tired - he will push my hands away lol. Wants to try and feed himself, will take the spoon of me to put in his own mouth - but boy what a mess that turns out to be lol, we end up with some food in his mouth, then more food in his hair down the side of his face, in his ears and all over his hands - but he has fun and that's all that matters.

So he definitely knows what he wants - including toys lol, we were at the shops today and i was carrying him around, next thing i know we have a soft toy reindeer with us too lol and here he is chewing on the reindeers antler, needless to say the reindeer came home with us and he has taken it to bed with him.

Apart from just getting him to eat a bit of lumpy food each day, has anyone got any ideas to stop him gagging/coughing as soon as the food goes in his mouth?? We have absolutely no problems with pureed food.

My son will be 6 months on the 11th, and I gave him Baby mum mums about a month and a half ago and he loved them..it's better now that he can do it himself. I haven't tried the yogurt melts but he loves the puffs when I feed him. He just picks them up and closes his fist around them, he hasn't quite figured out how to get them in his mouth yet. He is trying to hold him own bottle but we aren't quite there yet either...is anyone elses baby holding their own bottle? I have him on stage 3...the doctor okayed it..he is a big boy and the other foods weren't satisfying him. Tonight he sat by himself for the first time. he can't get up by himself but if I sit him he can do it. I also think he will be a walker before he crawls..he gets too easily frustrated and plus he has a big sister to watch run around! =0)

thanks everyone! I actually went out and bought some gerber puffs and he cant really pick them up and eat them on his own yet but i held it for him and put it in his mouth. The first time he really wasnt sure what to do, lol. He made some silly faces. But we tried another one later on and he seemed to like it! It'll take some getting used to, i think. He's not used to the texture.

On a side note I have to share...we dont watch TV that much but tonight we were sitting and watching TV and I just happened to turn on "King Of The Hill" and Jake started cracking up!! it was the coolest thing! lol He was just watching it and would just start laughing out loud! Usually it takes awhile and lots of silly faces to get him to giggle like that.

My son will be 6 months on the 9th (oh my how time is going by so fast!) We've been feeding him the yogurt melts & puffs for just over a month as well as baby mum mums. I prefer the mum mums right now since he can hold it & feed himself where as with the melts and puffs he has just learned how to pick them up but hasn't figured out how to get them into his mouth yet because they are so tiny. Don't worry about them choking even if they cough a little, all three of them melt pretty quickly in their mouths, just make sure they don't go stale.
