Just curious to know if anyone can tell me what happens when a child has their tonsils and / or adenoids removed. Is it outpatient surgery? What about recovery time? And do they use general anesthesia???

My son hasn't personally had the procedure performed, but my nephew has. My sister was terrified about it! From what I remember, it was outpatient surgery with general anesthesia. From what I can recall, my nephew had a reaction to the anesthesia and was vomiting once he woke up -- However, nothing besides lethargy the next few days after. I guess the doctor informed my sister healing time would be about 2 weeks, so my sister felt fortunate/relieved to have her son back to "normal"again by the end of the week. My nephew had severe allergies which interfered with his sleeping, so that's why his adenoids were removed. He's been fine since :)
