I would like to know how many times was your May baby sick in the last 11 months?

My son was one of the lucky he only got sick once he was 11 months old but I hear that it is bad for a kid not to get sick because it is suposed to mean that they will get sick more when they go to school.

My son hasn't been sick but I've really been playing it safe with him because he had a major accident at 4 days old. He threw himself backwards out of my sisters arms and she couldn't catch him he fell on tile floor and fractured his skull. From that day on I was really hesitant about doing anything that he shouldn't be doing. My son has an older sister and in her first year she had been sick 3 times. 2 ear infections and a viral infection.

i just have a questions for you, how did you chose to feed your baby. Was he breastfeed? My son hasn't had any major illness, just pink eye and a cold but i think that is from having a school age that brings that stuff home.

My daughter was sick once with a sinus infection. And it wasn't until this spring. She has allergies and we live in a high pollen area. But who knows what she was exposed to...I work in a pharmacy...all we do is cater to sick ppl. But I also breastfed her and that is supposed to help boost their immunity...not only as an infant before their immune system is developed, but also later in life.

had one stomach bug and I'm really shocked only one considering how much junk she touches/shoves in her mouth. Has had heaps of exposure to kids with colds and will even share toys with them and such but never been sick with one. I let her play in the dirt and don't OVER disinfect my house though. Seems to have worked with strengthening her immune system.

Hi Amanda
SOrry to hear all that your daughter has been through. I guess I shouldn't complain as Arionna hasn't had it that bad - just colds primarily with the exception of that rotovirus that went around this winter. Yes, she too has been happy overall - just a few grumpy days when it was early on into her colds and rightfully so, the poor thing. I have to say, I'm sad to hear all you've been through but honestly it makes me feel better to hear I'm/Arionna's not the only 1 - most of the posts and other moms I've talked to haven't had many issues with their babies.
I hope your daughter stays well!!!! Do you live in a cold climate??

Where do I begin? My daughter, who is 25+ lbs, eats organic, antibiotic free, was nursed, I made her baby food…has been sick non-stop since 6 months old. 1st it was a sinus infection, then bronchitis, pneumonia for 2 months, another sinus infection, an ear infection, a stomach virus with pink eye and several colds – she also has childhood asthma (which usually goes away between 2-4yrs), so every time she gets a runny nose we are giving breathing treatments 3 times a day. It has been crazy!! Luckily, she has remained happy, laid-back baby and always slept through the night! The doctor said she should never have a sick day once she starts school.

We are suffering through her first real cold right now. On her birthday.

Before that, she had 2 colds, only running noses that lasted a day or so (clear mucus, no fever, etc).

My 1 year old had a stomach bug when he was 6 months old, but that's it. No ear infections, no colds, nothing else.

My daughter first got a bad cold in Dec, so at 7 mos. Then flu in Jan followed by another cold. Since that cold, she's been sick very frequently unfortunately......the poor thing never seems to be able to breathe through her nose!!! She's always congested. Once she becomes healthy, I feel I can bring her out again - i.e. daycare at the gym, music class. Then once I do, she picks up another cold. I am disappointed a bit & surprised since she is breastfed (stopping at 1 year, so next week or by month's end). She also does not have to go to daycare when I work as my husband watches her 1 day (sunday) and my mother-in-law watches her 2 other days. I read many babies get 10-14 colds/sicknesses in the first year given their 'fresh'/fragile immune system. But most other moms I speak with say their child only has had 1-2 colds. I plan to speak with her pediatrician at the end of the month when we go for her check-up to inquire whether this is OK and also if she may have allergies. Would love to hear more from others. Any info is helpful!!! Thanks for the info and for listening!

Hi my son has been sick bout 5 or 6 times... first time he was only sick weeks old. He picks up colds from his sister very quickly and the weather we have been having lately is absolutely terrible, hot then cold and that also makes them sick. At the moment he has a bad cough, lots of phlegm and throws up in the evenings, that is when it gets really bad. hope the summer will be better.. Happy bday to all the may babies

My son gets cold symptoms with his teething and since he is working on his 11th tooth coming in, it has been frequent since 2months 3 weeks!! Other then that he has had one bad cold and one mild ear infection. Did you or are you breast feeding? I've read that that can help with immunity.

My daughter has been sick 3 times..but all three times it was only minor ear infections. This last time had a lot to do with allergies because the pollen count in our area is very high. I would stress about him not getting sick. You always hear things but every child is different. Your son might just have a great immune system. Count your blessings!

My son was sick twice. He got RSV twice but my doctor said that now that hes had RSV twice he will most likely have asthma! So I had a loose loose situation. Lol. But hes a healthy little boy now! YAY!!
