I know there are mixed opinions on whether or not a runny nose is a symptom of teething. I was just wondering if there are any other moms who noticed a runny nose at the same time your baby was teething?
My daughter has a runny nose right now and no other cold/flu symptoms. She is also definitely teething and I am not sure if the two are related.

My doctor has told me that because of the over production of saliva with teething causes flu like symptoms, which includes fever, runny nose, and/or earaches. It is normal, but if it persists I would call your doctor and ask. Hope that helps :)

My pediatrician said that their noses can get runny because they drool a lot while teething and drooling can produce snot but he said it shouldn't cause them to actually get sick. My son is 10 months and just cut his first tooth. He has had a lot of drool and snot but nothing else.

Both my girls have have not only had runny noses while teething but they also got/get diaper rash and fever. I've read a lot that says these symptoms aren't connected with teething but I think its too big of a coincidence to not connect them!

my daughter is 10 months old and started getting her teeth in last month. i seen a low fever on her for a couple days and she has had a slight runny nose as well but seems to be fine otherwise.

my 10 months old son is having runny nose too(started recently), dont know whether he's teething or not. usually he is fussy about everything when he's teething, he doesnt eat, he doesnt sleep, but he is eating and being normal. i dont know whether runny nose associates with teething.

Thanks for your input. I am pretty sure the runny nose is part of teething and this time, not a cold. I am hoping that she cuts the tooth quickly. We are flying on Monday and I don't want the poor dear to be congested.

My daughter is working on her 7th and 8th teeth at 9.5 months. Unlike other teething times, this time she has a higher temperature, runny nose, red bottom, red red cheeks and some congestion. She may also have a bit of a bug. From what have heard, like the other moms on here, a runny nose and cold-like symptoms are quite common. Pulling on the ears can also be a sign of teething or an ear ache/infection.

Yes- with every tooth so far my son has had cold-like symptoms (runny nose, congestion) but no fever or anything like that. And each time, on THE day that the tooth/teeth break through the gum, ALL the symptoms are IMMEDIATELY completely gone!

I also think it's related but my doc and pead do't seem to think so. No teeth yet but gums are hard and he is constantly chewing his fingers ( 9 months old ) and his nose is forever running... what do you use for his nose.. I find in the evening he seems to battle to breah so i putthe humidifier on ... hope he cuts teeth quickly before the winter noses start...

Yes my son gets really snotty when he's teething too. His nurse said it's completely normal.

You are right there are a lot of different opinions about this! So you can never tell for sure, but yes my children have all had a runny nose when they were teething.
I wouldn't be concerned as long as the snot is clear. If it turns yellow or green it could be something else.
