My 8 month old's top teeth are coming in before his bottom two. Is this normal? Also how long did it take for them to come in after you feel the gums are swollen and are white? Any information would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

My son got one of his top teeth at 7 months old and then a matter of like 3 days after his bottom two teeth came in. Then he got 3 more teeth on the top about a month after that. I guess it just varies from baby to baby.

hi jessica it is normal for top teeth to come, my son got his 2 front top teeth first at 3 months old hes 8 months old now and has 8 teeth and is still teething like crazy, he has 4 on top and 4 on the bottom, not all babies start with the bottom teeth. to be honest there is no time limit as to when the teeth decide to cut through, but for my son it was only 2 weeks after the swollen and white stage that they cut through, where as my niece was at that stage for 6 months, all babies are different and take different times to cut teeth. but its all normal. best wishes :)

Recently my (now 10 months)her top teeth came in first.should i worry about it?

Hi Jessica,
My baby is 8 months old and she is getting her top teeth also. My other 2 kids were both 10 months before they got their first teeth and they were bottom ones. Our Pediatrician said there was nothing to worry about. Each child is different. Good luck with the teething process.

My daughter just turned a year old, ( 9 days ago, on the 15th) She has zero teeth! I noticed today her top 4 teeth are coming in at the same time!!! Googled to see if that was normal, found this forum. Even though none of the stories are identical to mine, it is SO nice to know there's nothing to worry about!

My baby had both his bottom teeth at 4 months and they came in super fast but the top two took what felt like forever to actually break through. He's 9 months old now and has 7 teeth. Every baby is different. The doc told me he was teethin at 6 weeks old! So, ya never know!

Don't worry. My son got his bottom two and top two eye teeth before his two fronts! Every child is different. As long as there is no problems with the teeth themselves, I wouldn't worry. :-)

my 8 month old got his first 2 bottom teeth through at 3 1/2 months old, and since then he has gotten 1 tooth every month, sometimes every two weeks, he now has 10 teeth through and is still teething like crazy but he loves hard bread and frozen bannanas so it is alot easier that way. teething gel works for a small period of time but anything frozen is alot better for them.

I wouldn't worry about it. I was born with a tooth! My daughters side ones, on top, came before her front ones. My youngests top ones took about a month to come in once they were swollen. Poor baby. But her side one has come through quite quickly.

It all depends on the baby. My daughter is almost 9 months old and has her first two bottom teeth and a third one coming in on the bottom but doesn't have any on top yet.

Bottom teeth usually appear first but it can vary for each baby, they are probably on there way soon so I doubt it's anything to be concerned about.. you could check with your pediatrician for reassurance though! My son turned 8 months on the 9th, he got his first bottom tooth november 27th i believe.. his gums turned white and hard probably about 2 weeks before it cut through...the second one cut through a couple days later and I'd say they're about halfway through now. His top gums turned white and hard about a week after he got his first two and the first top one cut through january 5th, the second one has yet to make it's appearance, he looks quite silly with one corner of the top one peaking out so i hope they start coming in a little faster! Signs (for my son anyway) that they are about to cut through are increased drooling, rosey rosey red cheeks, and irritability & crying, I give him infant Motrin for the pain.

I dont think thats anything at all to worry about, my (now 3 year old) her top teeth came in 1st, and then the bottem ones. and now on my almost 8 mnoth old, she now has her bottom ones 1st. Well I guess all babies are diffrent. So no its nothing to worry about! :)

It's usually the bottom two first but my pediatrician and dentist said that it can vary. My kids' teeth have come in quickly sometimes but other teeth VERY slowly. It's one of those things that varies with each child. If the bottom teeth don't come in soon though or if you get to concerned about it just mention it to your doctor and if they think it's weird they can do an x-ray to make sure that the bottom teeth are there and maybe give a guess as to when they will make their apperance. Hope this helps a little.
