Hello,

My doctor said my son was a giant and he is within the 95th percentile of his height and weight I was wondering what the average of other babies his age are. The three friends who have May babies around his age give or take a week or two are tiny compared to him. He weighs 25.8 pounds and stands at 33 inches tall...

Summer, my son is in the 74th for height and 64th for weight. He's 32inches tall and was 26lbs even at his 15 month well visit. Within a few weeks of that, at WIC, he was weighed in at 27.3lbs and still stood 32inches tall. I'm told he's big by friends, but the pediatrician said he's a healthy baby and thats about it lol

My son is in the same boaat. Recheck your charts. 25 pounds is closer to the 55 percentile. Stephen is also 33inches at 15 months and 25 pounds and a few ounces. He has always been off the charts for height, I am resined to have a tall child and love him just the way God made him.

my oldest was 130 % all the way since he was 4 months old on his weight and 95% on his weight through out til he was 3 years old but i never had anyone tell me he was over weight but the doc said for a one and then again when he was 2 he had a lot of muscle mass for his age but now he fits right in with his age still on the higher percentage but looks healthy tall and slim and sturdy. my now 16 month old is similar but i like them that size they look sturdy and strong. i just cant beleive how many babies out there the same age r actually the same size! makes me feel better... everyone i see in stores etc.. always say holy he is a giant boy! but i dont mind! :) i luv that there are so many children out there like him! and the same age!

My daughter Theona is 22.5 lbs. and I thought 29 inches.... but maybe it was 31. My son on the other hand was OFF THE CHARTS for weight by the age of four months and I was immediately yelled at by his doctor for feeding him too much and he had to be placed on a diet. He said the extra fat could put stress on his heart. But I'm thinking, if they are still in a percentile and not over 100%, you have nothing to worry about. My son is now in a healthy 85% weight and I didn't make that mistake again. My daughter is a lil peanut.

My son is 24lbs 10oz and 32.75 inches tall. His doctor said he was around the 50th-65th percentile for his weight and height individually, but that his weight to height ratio together landed him in the 75th-ish percentile.

Well, are either you or your husband tall? My friend's baby is 5 months 18.5 pounds and also in the 95th percentile. His dad is 6 foot.

My daughter on the other hand is 15 months old, 20.5 pounds, and 26.6 inches tall (5th percentile). We figured she's fine in weight but is a shorty like me. At 5'2" I'm the tallest woman in my family. I'm Filipina so that is tall for us. :)

My son was in the 95th for weight and height too. He was a roly poly, but cute as a bug. He's four now. Still tall and has thinned out. Your son is fine!! You just have a larger than average baby. Nothing wrong. Don't think that he's overweight either, because they grow very rapidly and eventually thin out. That's what my doc told me because I was worried my son would be chunky. He's not! He's four and most people think he's in Kindergarten already. He's just a tall kid. As long as your little one is healthy, that's all that matters.

And as a side note, I now have a 15month old girl, who is in the 75th percentile.

Raegan is 15 months now and is 32.25 inches and 22lbs (just got these measurements at the drs today!). My doc didn't seem to think anything was abnormal and your baby seems like a good healthy size. I know she is in the 90th percentile for height so we both have tall babies!

My son, born May 16th, is now 34 inches tall and 25 lbs. What bugs me is when people think he's 2 or 3 and think he is developmentally delayed....no he is just big for his age and is actually very coordinated and loquacious for his age!

My son just had his 15 month appt. He has been in the 95-97th percentile since his first checkup but since he became so active he has really thinned out even though he eats alot! His height it 32+ inches and 22lbs. He actually lost about 1 lb since his 12 month appt. He is so active so the doctor isn't concerned. Plus my husband and I are thin/lean. he has all of his first molars for a total of about 14-15 teeth now so he has been eating all table food but no junk food. We don't even offer him fast food/junk food/candy. Why start now :-) He loves the healthier stuff :-)

My son turned 15 months on the 24th and just had his well check-up this past Thursday. He is 24 lbs. 15 oz (57%) and 31.5" (63%). I'd say your son is tall, but weight wise, he seems to be just right. Doesn't seem too big to me, not at all. My first born was 5 oz more and 1/2" taller at this same age as my third now.

Kamrynn is 30 inches & 17 pounds. No, she wasn't a preemie. Yes, we've run every test in the book, but nothing so far, thank God. She is very smart & active, walking by 9 months & talking up a storm! So other than a keeping her on a high cal diet, her doc isn't concerned. She has her own line on the growth chart & has actually jumped up a couple spots in height - which means she's even lighter for her height! We call her our Tiny Beast. :)
