my bubby is only 7 wks old and for past 2 weeks i think he's been teething...im not sure if he's too young to teeth yet. He's very drooly, blows bubbles out his mouth, he chews on his dummy on the one side of his mouth rather then sucking on it and he has started to chew on his hands.

well it looks like Niven has just cut her first tooth at 12.5 weeks old, not a bottom front one but a bottom side one, just a tiny white bump about the size of a milia poking through her gum.
wonder how long until it comes out fully?

I asked my Dr at our 2month appt. about this and my son was 9wks then...the dr just said that was normal and didn't have anything to do with teething....so who knows b/c my son was blowing bubbles, slobbering, and hand chewing all the time and he has nothing coming thru yet.

Quoting Korie:

so if my son is drooling alot and he's starting to chew on his hands does this mean that he is starting to teeth?

It can, but their salivary glands also kick in at 2 to 3 months, but if there is hand chewing...not sucking...you can check for swollen and red gums.

My baby girl is 11 weeks and she has been teething since she was 3 weeks so dont stress. She hasnt had any teeth come through yet but sometimes the teeth move in there mouth for some time before coming through.

I had no worries when i realised she was teething because she was so young, my grandfather was born with 2 teeth in his mouth. I figure if you can be born with teeth you can most certianly start teething at 3 weeks. My only concern was that i couldnt even give her infant panadol because of her age, so maybe some worries about her age :)

my son is 9 weeks old and he's definitely teething - drooling, blowing bubbles, chewing on his hands. I think he started at 7 weeks also.

it could mean that or...I looked it up in Dr. Spock's Baby and Childcare book, it says it could just be active salivary glands.

My son is almost 3 months, and is doing the same things! I can't see anything poking through his gums, but they might be coming soon!! Can happen anytime I guess!

my 10 week old has been doing the exact same thing for the last week or so and she has crying spats like she is in pain occationally, i was wondering the same thing about teething, panadol seems to help but it is very hard to get her to take it and i don't blame her it tastes fowl, i guess it might be an idea to grab some bonjela gel next time i go shopping

This helped me, my little girl is 11 weeks and shes a drool monster!! and she chews on her fingers, my hand, and her toys when she can grab them.. (still working on the grabing toy thing LOL) shes not to fussy until later in the day, I think shes starting to teeth but other ppl say that shes to little. But I was also reading that they can teeth for months before they cut thru. They grow so fast.

Thanks for the info guys, i dont feel so confused now, because i was told that it wouldnt happen this early. Its good to know other mothers opinions.
Dear Lindy,
Rhyley is breast fed. I just gave him some panadol as i was not sure if he was unsettled from his teeth or something else, because me and my partner tried slot of things to settle him down and nothing had worked. He calmed down about 40 mins after the panadol was given to him.

I have 3 children and my oldest 2 were very late with their fist teeth. 12mos and 9mos for the first tooth. I have a 7wk old now and she acts like she is teething and her gums are really white and swollen and has the same symptoms of your little one. I don't know it it is normal to be that early but I am glad that other babies are acting this way too. Makes me not think i am crazy for thinking she is teething! I have been told that they can "teeth" for a long time before it actually pushes through the gums.

Tina does he breast or bottle feed? Those are the signs of teething. and it's not to early.
there is a product called hylands teething tabs, you will find it in Walmart in the baby section, it will make his gums numb without side effects and will make him sleep if he is fussy. they are mostly chamomlle

Dear Tina,
Each of my kids have teethed at different times. My oldest was both bottle and breast feed so he teethed at 3 months, but my second 2 children teethed at after 6 months because I only breast feed them. But they still had sore gums as early as 2 months. I have a friend that has 6 kids and she says all of hers were the same, teething when it was their time. My kids dentist says that as long as they don't exceed a year the longer it takes for them to teeth the healthier their teeth and gums will be, but most kids teeh when they start on solid foods.

My oldest daughter cut her first two teeth the day she turned 3 monthes old and i can see the tops of my 8 week old's bottom two teeth thru her gums now. So, no he is not to young to be teething.
