My baby has cradle cap. He is 11 weeks old. It seems to be getting worse. The doctor said just to wash it often and comb it out with a fine toothed comb. Do any of your babies have it and what do you do to make it better?

My daughter had cradle cap really bad. I tried Baby Oil, and it helped some, but more so just made her hair look greasy. lol. But, my mom had suggested Head & Shoulders. I used this and immediately saw a difference. I use this on her all the time now, because if I switch back to the Baby Shampoo, the flakes start to show up again. You just have to be very careful not to get the shampoo in their eyes when you're rinsing it out!

Hope this helped! :)

Hey don't worry Karla. My baby has it too. Actually its supposed to be really common. My sis-in-law's son has it too and he is nearly 10 months old. The doc is right. It will go off when the baby is 1 year old or it might take a bit longer. But there is nothing to worry.

Carter had cradle cap, it is pretty much gone away now. (He is 10.5 weeks) I called when he was 8 weeks and asked the nurse about it cus it was really bad. She told me to put baby oil on before I give him a bath and to make sure you are using the baby shampoo on his head and not body wash. Other than that to make sure you brush it and lotion his head.. I have found that the burts bee baby bee lotion worked the best on his head. But the nurse also said that it will get worse before it gets better. She said in most babies it peaks to its worse between 3-4 months and then it will start getting better

My baby had a little bit that just started lately (she's almost three months old). I put baby oil on a q-tip and rubbed it into her scalp where the dry flakes were. Then I used a comb to gently rub her scalp and pull the flakes out. I shampooed her hair that night and it's like 95% better!

My sons both had it. I used the baby oil rubbed into their scalp overnight then combed it out in the morning, it seems to work, and using the Johnsons lavender baby oil seems to help them sleep better to lol

my baby girl has it and so did her sister....their doctor always told me to put baby oil on her scalp and put a little cap on it for about 15 minutes before bath time and then use a soft brush and make soft circular motions on her scalp to loosen it up and then wash her hair thoroughly.

I find it best to scratch out with a fine comb when his scalp is dry.I wash my sons hair let it dry then scratch it. I also use liquid vitamin E in his scalp .(which you can get at your local cvs)

olive oil works great just leave it to soak in for a couple of hours ( they do smell like a frying pan) then just comb it out.

My daughter has cradle cap i went to boots and bought some olive oil for 1.29 you put a thin layer on top of your babys head leave it over night and wash it out with shampoo in the morning use a flannel to scrap excess skin off. I was told this off doctor and it worked first time round with my daughter... Good luck :-) xx

My Baby girl is 8 weeks tomorrow and she has developed cradle scalp. I am using olive oil to soften then comb ...it is not a remedy but it helps get the scalp out naturally.

Hi Everyone - My boy is nine weeks old today and had Cradle Cap and eczema, I guess he is going to have sensitive skin like me.. The Doc put my boy on QV Intensive Body Moisturizer... She said to cover him head to toe and let it sink in his skin and then wash it off and put it back on.. and not to leave him in the bath too long I have been doing this since Friday- Is his skin and head starting to clear yes it is.. Also If your not satified with what your doctor is telling you, it doesn't hurt to get a second opion.

My little boy had the beginning of cradle cap and the lactation nurse told me about mineral oil....at first I just rubbed in onto his little scalp and it didn't seem to help too much...then one night he was having a hard time sleeping so I rubbed the oil on his scalp and combed it until no more flakes came off....the flakes dissappeared after that...
