Went to pediatrician for one month check up a week ago and told him that my son eats between 2.5oz and 5oz. He said that is a wide range. Sometimes I can't get him to eat any more than 2.5oz though. How much do your 5 week old's usually eat?

if breastfeeding about every 2-3 hours. 2-5 oz sounds right.if he is only drinking 2.5 oz. he'll be fine. as long as he don't get dehydrated. make sure you get him to try to eat about every 2-3 hours.

My daughter is 9 weeks old but was early so her adjusted age is 5 weeks. She eats 3.5oz-4oz every 3-4 hours during the day and 6 hours at night. They told me to not make her eat the full bottle if she is refusing it. As long as she is having plenty of wet and poopy diapers, seems satisfied, gaining weight, and doesnt refuse more than 2 full feedings in a row she is fine.

My daughter is 6 weeks old but we had to start her on cereal (with the prediatricians approval) about a week ago because she would eat like 8oz + of formula each time!

i keep a notebook for my babygirl who is also about 5 weeks. i write down every time she drinks and how much of it she drank, at the end of the day i put a total of oz. drank and how many bottles she took it in...an average day for my baby is 2-3 oz in 6-8 bottles a day...she is on formula.

My daughter is now 7 weeks, but at 5 weeks she was eating between 4 and 5, and still is at 5oz. Does he fall asleep mid-feeding? If so that could be why he's only taking 2.5,try to rouse him to encourage to finish his feeding ;)

my son will be 4 weeks on wednesday. He eats 3.5 oz to 5 oz every 2 1/2 to 3 hours (he was 9 lbs when he was born and we had to supplement him by waking him every 2.5 to 3 hours due to high bilirubin levels). His sleep is still restless and he gets up in the middle of the night roughly every 3 hours depending on how much he ate at the previous feeding. Sometimes he can't hold his eyes open long enough for a whole bottle.

my son just turned a month, and he usually will eat a full 4.0 oz every three to four hours.. As long as i dont get him off schedule it helps him sleep longer through the night to.

My baby boy is 6 weeks now and feeds anywhere from 4oz-60z every 3-4 hours. He may sometimes last 5 hours from one feed to the next but thats quite rare. Every baby is an individual and therefore how much your 5 week old should be eating varies. I know from my 1st daughter who is now 6, she only took very small amounts until she was 2-3 months and she turned out just fine!! Sometimes if you persist with a feed and your baby takes more than he wants he will vomit and then your no better off.

My baby was 5 weeks Tues. He eats about 4-5oz per feeding. Have you tried burping him in the middle of the feeding? Sometimes he won't keep eating until he's burped once or twice. Also, it depends on how long it's been since he ate last. He goes at least 4 if not 5 hours in between feedings. Good luck!!

My daughter is 5 weeks old tomorrow and she eats 2-4 oz. every 3 to 3 and a half hours! She goes 5-6 hours at night though. At our checkup the doctor said if she wants more to give her more, it's really whatever she wants to eat as long as she is eating and gaining a good amount of weight. She previously was eating too much and gained two lbs in two weeks, so now I have to pump and feed her from a bottle.

My son is 6 weeks old now and drinks up to 5oz per feed every 3-4 hours, except at night when he drinks only once. In 24 hours, he drinks about 26-30oz. There are times when he falls asleep after 2oz but I will change his nappy and he will wake up to finish the feed. If he doesn't finish his feed, he will tend to want to feed again in 1.5 to 2 hours which will then disrupt his sleep in the night.

My daughter is 6 weeks now but last week she was eating 4oz every 3 to 4 hours but slept 6 hours at night. Now at 6 weeks she eats 5 oz every 4 hours but is sleeping 7 to 8 hours every night. In a 24 hours period it's about the same 24 to 25 oz. Our pediatrcian says the same thing. It doesn't matter per feeding how much your 5 week old is eating but within the 24 hour period. I tell you one thing, it's easier on you if he's eating close to the same amount every feeding. Before I increased her formula to 5oz she was eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and for me it was a pain.

My baby isn't 5 weeks old yet. But at our 2 week appointment last week we were talking to our pediatrician about how he ate and she said it is perfectly normal for babies to not always eat the same amount at each feeding (right now he eats between 1-4 oz each feeding) it's not about how much they eat at each feeding its about how much they eat the entire day, as long as THAT stays consistent he is fine.
