My son's doctor said he can start eating baby meats around 7 months and he's at that age. So, he's had them a couple times now and it seems like everytime he throws it up later, like an hour or two later. And of coarse he doesn't like the taste of them, so I had to hide it in with some carrots. Kaiser recommends babies should start off with lamb, then poultry, then beef, but I couldn't find any lamb for infants, only poultry and beef. Do you think it has something to do with his digestion system not being ready yet? Or the acids from the carrots mixed in? Anybody else had these problems or something similar? Suggestions? Obviously I'm not going to give it to him everyday, maybe everyother day untill it gets better.

I fed my 8-month-old daughter 97% lean ground beef with baby food green beans. I just cooked the meat in a skillet as if I was making tacos. She liked it. I fed it to her three or four times and she never threw up. I didn't give her a TON, I just mixed like two spoonfuls into her regular babyfood.

We've been having kitchen issues so I haven't been able to do it since then, but I'm sure it's no biggie, her rice cereal has plenty of iron and I still breastfeed on demand so she's getting protein from my milk.

If he's throwing up every time I would definitely give it a break and wait a while and try again in a couple months.

My daughter refuses to eat them too she makes herself throw them up, so I've just stopped giving them to her. I wish I could offer up some advice, but yes they taste horrible. I don't blame the kids for not wanting to eat them. I had the same problem with my son when he was that age too.

I have a small food processor that I would mix meat with a veggie and a tiny bit of sea salt. Baby meats are disgusting and I won't feed my kids something I won't eat. At 8 months my youngest won't eat anything pureed anymore so now I just mince his meat give him boiled veggies and he does fine. If he still isn't doing well with the meats give him some time and try again later.

Have you tasted the baby meats? That is probably one reason why he won't take them. My 8 month old won't eat the jarred meats, but will eat any meats that I prepare. Same goes for veggies, he doesn't like very many from the jar, but will eat them when we are having them for dinner. Every baby is different, you just have to figure out what they like, mine seems to prefer table food over baby food, so this may be the case with your little one too! Good Luck!

my daughter will be 8 months this month and she has been having meat in her solid food for months, the difference i think is that the brought ones taste disgusting and my children refuse to eat them so i make all my own food, she has roast chicken dinners, beef stew and dumplings.etc. we use no salt or pepper so i know exactly what is in them and she has neve been sick because of it!! ive never seen a baby eat so quickly and she is doing so well!! she is crawling already and chases her big brother round! try making your own. would you really want to eat the jars??

you have to give him a bottle/breast feed first when he crys next time he crys give him a meal example: morning first cry -bottle next cry- enfant cereal next cry- bottle next cry -lunch (blended veggies and chicken, beef, turkey, and fruit) or jar food next cry- bottle next cry -dinner different meat different veggie different fruit next cry bottle. he is throwing up because A- he isnt having a bottle first and letting taht get to his tummy and than making room for solid food B- he has a common reflex peoblem and if its not effecting is weight and health hes fine and the answer is A

7 month old babies should be interduced to lots of boiled water and should be having 6-7 bottles 8oz of formula a day if formula feeding. and he might cry after he has eaten solid food for about 5 minutes because its not like the liquids hes use to it doest make him feel full as quick

He has shown signs that he's ready to eat since he was like 4 months old. So far all he likes are the purees and rice cereal. I had to supplement with formula after the first few weeks because I wasn't producing as much as he was demanding, so we made the transition to formula, especially after I was in the hospital for a week when I was 6 weeks post partum, due to an infection from my c-section. He's thriving and doing fine with the way things are. We haven't really tried infant meats yet again though. Like I said I'm just going to wait a little longer. And with him haing rice cereal, he's actually still underweight for his age. But he's also all for his age.

And Fish products before a certain age WILL cause allergies, Rice cereal is not good for kids. it causes obesity.Do not give your baby fish products, peanut butter or rice cereal. And wheat cereal is even worse for protein allergies.

You can put off solids till the first year it can prevent allergies. His little body is not ready. please hold off any further solids till he shows signs that he is ready to eat.

hi ya i started my littlen on fish fingers at 7 1/2 months and puree meat mixed with veg which i would feed hin in between him feeding him self other veg and finger foods he is now 8 1/2 months and am doing the same although i have started him on chicken nuggets chopped up finely, i have been told that littlen will not start on propper meat till 9-10 months, as it may upset him so i would try puree chicken 1 level tbsp max of chicken 2 tbsp mash potato and one tbls carrots, mash it all together with a little pre boiled water. and if he has an allergy then you will know, good luck :)

I've tried giving him a little bit of our table foods to see if he'll like them, but he makes the disgusting face and spits it out. And they're simple things like eggs, white rice, flour tortillas. So I'm thinking if I give him regular meat that he'll do the same. But it's always worth a try. I haven't given the infant meats to him in a while. I was thinking his body isn't ready for them yet, so that's why he must have been throwing it up. It wasn't like he was spitting it up like babies do with formula or breastmilk. I had fed him the chicken and carrots(all purees) and then we had gone shopping and I had found a nice suprise on his pants and jacket. And then the babysitter said the same thing happened when she gave it to him the next day. So I'm assuming he's just not ready yet. But it's been like a week, maybe we'll try again in another week or so. I was also thinking about mixing it with really watery rice cereal since it's so thick and seeing if it stays down that way. I'll experiment and see how it goes. Thank you everybody.

We are didn't give our first meat until he was almost 2yrs and are planing to do the same with our second who is 8 months old now. It worked well for us, we don't eat a lot of meat and think that most people eat way too much. Both of our kids are healthly and happy almost meat free as long as they eat a varity of fruits, veggies, beans and whole grains they don't even need meat.

It may be your baby isn't ready for them. My Dr told me at 9 months I could start meats but I'm waiting for 1 year ( that's what i read in a book) so that is what i did with my first child seemed to work out well. We didn't do baby food meats went to regular meat.

My son never would eat baby meats. NEVER! He would gag as soon as we would try. We just started giving him our meats that we were eating and he did great. That was 9yrs ago. My daughter gets most of what i eat. I just break it into small pieces. She loves regular food! Now i am battling with her to eat her baby food. I'm not even going to buy the baby meats this time. Good luck!

Reguarding it being an allergy, its not considered an allergy if your child throws up food at this age. If your baby is pukeing it that its likely that his digestive system is not ready. My understanding is that you can rub the food on your childs cheek if it breaks out in a rash its an allergy (my friend has a child with an egg and nut allergy she has been extra cautious with her second born and that is what her dr told her to do) good luck!

hey

So my txt from the ece program states that your baby doesent need to start meat untill 9 months. At 7 months your baby needs 8 tbsp of cereal and 4 tbsp of veggies a day. at 8 months veggies go up to 5 tbsp and frut 6 tbsp

Just food for thought from the canadian pediatric society! good luck

He may be allergic to meat or just not ready. Is this baby food meat? I give mine, (he's 9 months, but he was due in May, so he's 7 adjusted) just meat that we'd eat. He loves chicken, mostly he sucks on it and loves steak.
