I sometimes worry about my baby's sleep habits. He sleeps through the night 8-6:30ish and then has short little cat naps throughout the day. He sleeps often during the day (is never awake for more than one a half hours at a time) but not for very long (30 to 45 mins). I used to wonder if he should be more like they say a baby should be around 6 months (1 nap in the morning and one in the afternoon)... but now i say just forget it! every baby is different! and my baby sleeps through the night, so i can't see if being a bad thing that he sleeps often during teh day!

My daughter (now 2) was the same way! The doctor said it was completely normal as long as her wakeful hours she was alert and playing. My daughter slept between 18 and 20 hours a day sometimes. But as long as he is learning and curious and developing mentally on par(or close enough) than it's just fine I think. If your still concerned ask you doctor the next time you see him/her.

Maybe he exhausts himself. You never know. =]
Like I said, if it worries you too much, see a doctor.

he sleeps through the night most of the time, there are the odd nights that he will wake up but he is good with his routine for bed and that, but he will stay up for 2-3 hours max and then sleep for atleast 2 hours..

my son has recently stopped sleep through but used to sleep 8pm until 7.30am then from 9-10 then 12-2 x

I'm sure it's fine. Maybe he isn't into a proper routine yet, and babies at five ish months need about 15 hours sleep, but some sleep more, some sleep less. My daughter sleeps all through the night and has ten minute power naps during the day, and only has four bottles, instead of five.
If your son isn't crying, or seeming to be upset at the way things are, don't stress. Or, if you do find yourself worrying too much, talk to your doctor.. =]

I wish my baby would sleep that much! Wish I could help you, but my bub is breast fed, so I do not know exactly how much he gets each feed. However, he only stays up for 2 hours maximum during the day before going back for another sleep
