about your labour/delivery: I was 8 days overdue and the doc was worried about the baby getting too big so she induced me. I labored all day and then sat fully dialated for 2 hours while the doctor did a c-section on another lady. By that time ALL of my pain meds were gone and it was just time to push. I pushed for an hour and a half before Sam arrived. My placenta broke apart inside of me and I was hemmoraging severely so they had to manually deliver it. I would have rather pushed 4 more babies out than had 2 nurses push on my belly as hard as they could and have the doc up to her elbows in me. HORRIBLE pain. They then gave me stadol and drugged me out so bad I was drooling. My MIL had to hold the baby up to my chest to help me nurse. Makes me sad just to think about it. I was so out of it that I do not remember seeing my daughter after she was first born.
how were the 1st few weeks: So much fun! Nursing was a definate challenge but we figured it out.
how old are they now: Sam will be 4 months old in 1 week
any milestones: She has grown 5 inches and gained 7 lbs since she was born!!! Too fast, much too fast.
any surprises about anything: I was suprised by how long it would take for me to feel back to normal after delivery. I had an episiotomy and my stitches didn't dissolve right and I had to have them taken out at 6 weeks. I also got really bad hemeroids (TMI sorry). I finally felt better at 8 weeks out.

About your labour/delivery: Water broke in the middle of the night... which I cried because I thought I had peed on myself. Then I realized it just kept coming and coming so we went to hospital and I was only 2cm. After several hours I decided to get my epidural... until the guy came in. He stabbed me with a pen and I nearly jumped out of my skin. I told him to get the eff out of my room and not come back. So I went a few more hours without meds before I made the nurse promise that butthead wouldn't come near me with a pen again. Lol. Then they stretched me to a 10 but they realized my son was stuck and rushed me to the OR. They got started on my c-section and I started screaming because I could literally feel them cutting me open and it HURT. They pumped me full of meds and knocked me out. When I woke up and my husband was gone I was devastated that I missed my son being born.



How were the 1st few weeks: Good. I worried over every little thing and called the doctor, a lot.



How old are they now: 2 1/2 months.



Any milestones: He can hold his rattle or other small toys, smiles, coos, eats cereal, plays in his walker.

Any surprises about anything: Not really...

about your labour/delivery: I had two Midwives and my husband with me cheering me on which was great! We spent most of the time in the shower and I did a lot of meditating. I had trouble dialating so they broke my water and three hours later Emma was here! Even though I have extensive spinal fusion, I was able to have a natural birth.



how were the 1st few weeks: My mother stayed with us for the first week which was very helpfull because I was anemic and had trouble walking. We all just sat and stared at our little girl in amazement, I kept saying "I can't believe she was in my body, and got out!" hahaha



how old are they now: 14 weeks



any milestones: she can roll over both ways, reaches for things, is teething, loves stnding up (with help), laughs out loud, coos/tries to talk and can see across the room!



any surprises about anything: How much I truely love being a mom!

about your labour/delivery I was induced the night before with Connor. The next morning they started pitocin (sp), my water was broke by my OB. I was laboring for quite some time till 7 PM, they decided to do an emergency c-section because he was experiencing fetal distress and my BP was high. He was born healthy and happy!
how were the 1st few weeks They were okay I was going stir crazy. I had a great c-section recovery. He was a good eater and sleeper. No compaints.
how old are they now 10 weeks tomorrow
any milestones He coos, open/clothes hands, discovered his feet, can push up, laughs grasps toys and puts them in his mouth, can follow an object up and down side to side, looks up when he hears mom/dad's voices. He has his social smile and he is laughing now.
any surprises about anything He sleeps through the night and did REALLY well in his crib. I have been truly blessed.

length of labour- Weeks I started "early labor about 3 weeks before I had her" but after meds I started them at 6 so a little over 12 hrs. Took 3 pushes and a vacuum (heart rate was going down) and she was out.

about your labour/delivery- Not as bad as I thought.

how were the 1st few weeks- I was in the hospital for 4 days along with her. But onces I got home, I honestly I don't remember too much.

how old are they now-27

any milestones- Smiling, Scooting, Following us a little, Starting to laugh

any surprises about anything- I wish some one would have said you will never have a long shower while your alone with her again. Or be able to get into anything without having to think about what you need or when she will need feed or changed or anything. But shes worth it! :)

about labour: went into labour 11pm on partners birthday rang midwife she told me to have a hot bath contracting hard midwive visited 4am only 1 cm dilated visited again 11am only 2 cm dilated went into maturnity hospital 4pm still only 2 cm dilated 5 hours later still only 2 cm dilated midwife decided to send me to christchurch womans due to my labour not progressing fast enough so got transferred there in ambulance sucking down the gas on the way ambulances are so bumpy! in christchurch they broke my waters and gave me an epidural which only numbed my legs so still felt every contraction gave me pethideine which made me sleep but woke up every minute for contractions then hours later they discovered what was wrong with epidural and fixed it then all these ppl came rushing in and telling me to push bubs was born via forcepts and i got cut :( bub wasnt breathing at birth and had corn wrapped around her neck it was 13mins before i got the first cuddle.

first few weeks very tireing lol but ok

jazmine is now 9 weeks old

milestones: smileing laughing, drooling, very strong neck n head control, and today she rolled onto her side:)

any suprizes: every day and im suprised at how much she hass wrapped herself around my heart i couldnt imagine life without her now shes my gorgeous little darling.

Length of labor: We had an emergency c-section, so about 10 minutes.



About your labour/delivery: I started spotting at 25 weeks due to an infection in the placenta that caused it to abrupt. They gave me steroids to help his lungs mature faster. I started having mild contractions and was in and out of Labor & Delivery, Antinatal & home for two weeks. The last day I was in labor & delivery for 24 hours on constant monitoring and drugs to stop the contractions. They kept coming and all along Cy was fine except his heart rate kept dropping during contractions, so they decided to take him that afternoon. We had an emergency c-section, my husband wasn't allowed to be there and they had to do chest compressions on Cy and insert a ventilator. We got to see him for about 10 minutes before they whisked him away to the NICU for 3 months.



How were the 1st few weeks: I will not lie, they were hell on earth not being able to do anything for him. We couldn't hold him very much and I had terrible PPD, the day I got out of the hospital.



How old are they now: Cyrus is 23w/5d, but his corrected age is 10w/5d.



Any milestones: He eats 6-7.5 oz, sleeps 4-8 hours, wears 0-3 month clothes, size 1 diapers & weighs over 12lbs now. He's a very easy going baby, coos & smiles a lot. He's very aware of his surroundings, puts weight on his legs, kicks a lot and loves to swing. He doens't really like tummy time, so he doesn't really lift his head up yet unless he's very mad! lol



Any surprises about anything: He is such a little miracle and we love watching him grow now. I was surprised at how much strength & patience I have as a mother. He really put me through the ringer and I love him so much for it!

about your labour/delivery- My water broke at 5am and I started to have contractions soon after but they were very far apart so my midwife told me I should take a walk. 4 miles later my contractions were 7 minutes apart but still didn't hurt so I did some squats which helped move them to 4 minutes apart. them she checked me and said I could push if I wanted to, I couldn't believe it after 18 hours of hard labor with my first. 20 minutes later I was holding her, It was awesome. I had both my babies at home with a midwife and would recomend it to anyone interested

how were the 1st few weeks-very easy compaired to the first baby, he had very bad colic. She slept 6 hours straight when she was 3 days old, shes been so easy.

how old are they now- 10 1/2 weeks

any milestones- held head up at birth, smiles, coos, lifts head and chest up, and trying to laugh.

any surprises about anything- I was surprised by how much he loves his sister. I was worried about jealousy but the only time he cries when I hold her is when he wants to hold her.

My baby girl is Emma Renee. She is my second (I had a 15 mo. old when she was born). Born 5/14 at 6:40am. and was 9 lbs. 20 3/4 in. She was born the day after her due date. I was having painful contractions for 3 days before and finally went to the hospital at midnight the day she was born but still wasn't sure if it was time yet. When I got there I was 6 cm and by the time we got out of triage I was 7 cm. I could have had her within the hour if I hadn't wanted to wait for an epidural. Labor and delivery was Soooo easy I couldn't believe it. I never felt any more pain than the contractions I was having at home, which weren't bad at all. My husband said that was so easy I'd want to do it every year. Not sure about that, but it was a very easy birth. The first few weeks (and now) were very hard dealing with my 15 mo. old then who was very very jealous. He was so clingy and cried all the time and threw a fit if I was holding the baby. I had to keep her away from him most of the time or he tried to hit her and be too rough. It has gotten better now and he lets me hold her and he gives her hugs. Emma will be 10 weeks old on Friday. On her 2 mo. birthday she rolled over for the first time from her front to back. My first baby didn't roll over until he was 3 mo.

about your labor/delivery:Labor was extememly easy. I went in to be induced but was sent home.. I had contractions at home but nothing overwhelming. I went back in on Sunday the 16th to be induced again and everything went slowly.. but went well. delivery was tough. i pushed from 7:50 until 1:16 that afternoon. It was a lot of work for me! they tried to use the vacuum twice but it popped off.. then finally the third time it worked! :(

how were the 1st few weeks: easy. I have a wonderful baby.. second night home she slept through the whole night (until 7).. and has been sleeping ever since.

how old are they now: She is almost 9 weeks!!

any milestones: she giggled the first time on July 14th.. she smiles at everything and giggles all the time. holds her head up. she can prop herself up on her elbows- she's doing very well!

any surprises about anything: well everything is new and an awesome learning experience for me.. everything is harder than what i thought.. so when i find out that it is more difficult it's surprising..

About labor and delivery- I wasn't dialated at all was 7 days past due and babys heartrate was flat. Got induced cerdavil tape first which brought the contractions, then pitocin, which made them worse, 1 epidural that was done wrong, epidural #2 worked like a charm and 1 Hr of pushing and poof she arrived.
The first few weeks- there was no sleep involved but I was a happy emotional mess
how old are they now- 10 weeks 6 days
any milestones- holding her head up since birth, smiling at 2.5 weeks old, just rolled over on Friday!!!
Any surprises- how much easier it is the 2md time around

about your labour/delivery: I was induced early with my dr.'s approval because I was so incredibly uncomfortable and had quite a bit of ligament pain. However, she was not ready to be born and took her sweet time coming. They started the pitocin at 6:00am and my labor was rather slow in progressing. The contractions didn't start to become really painful until noon and then all of a sudden, they were unbearable. Her heart rate dropped so they had me lay on my side until it came back up. I was then able to get an epidural which helped a lot. My cervix was not thinning out completely, so I was trying different positions. In the late afternoon, I was sitting up and ended up becoming very light-headed. I hadn't eaten anything since an early dinner the previous day. So, I ended up passing out and scaring everyone. After that, they had me eat a popsicle and some jello and I felt a lot better. She was finally born at 11:06pm after only a few pushes and I only had a tiny little tear.
how were the 1st few weeks: Pretty good, breastfeeding went really well, but she is really more of a snacker instead of a full meal girl. Her big sisters just love her to death and think she is the cutest thing ever.
how old are they now: She is 9 wks, 6 days.
any milestones: She loves to smile and has slept through the night on a few occasions. She is very alert and is holding her head up really well.
any surprises about anything: She was born with a full head of hair and has not lost any of it. Everyone loves to comment on it. I really did not have any pain after her birth, which was amazing

about your labour/delivery: I wish i could have done a VBAC but the hospital wouldnt let me... its makes me a little sad but since my other daughter is only 18 months older there is a lot of risks..

how were the 1st few weeks: I thought it would be alot harder actually.. its much easier adjusting to the second one than it was with the first one... she slept through the night at 4 weeks...

how old are they now: 10 weeks and 1 day

any milestones: rolling from her belly... smiling... giggling... cooing...

any surprises about anything: everyday is full of surprises... she learns so much everyday... she is so happy... and she has been rolling over since she was 3 days old... they said it was a fluke and it happens everyday... my little champ!

Eli was breech so they had to take him.

The first few weeks were wonderful. Time seemed to stop,.

Eli is 2 months, 2 weeks and 3 days old.

He can mimic really well. Likes to say "I good" and "Hi" alot.
He can roll from tummy to back really well. He loves to take baths. He smiles all the time and he has learned to belly laugh!

I am constantly surprised at how quickly he learns something new and how I can love him more and more as the day progresses. I am so blessed to have my little boy.

14-15 hrs and than 3-4 hrs of pushing. 18 hr labor.

i was in labor at 11pm may 19th and went to the hospital around 2 am may 20th. i was dialated for 3 weeks at 1.5 cm. i lost the mucus plug around 10pm. started to have contractions at 11pm. when i got to the hospital i was 1.5cm and i walked around the hospital for 1-2 hrs. and they checked me again and i was 2 cm. they moved me to the room and gave me epidural and another type of medicine. i couldnt feel anything at all. the middle of my back and down was all numb. i pushed for about 2-3 hrs and than aireana decided to turn herself sunnyside up and i pushed for another 1-2 hrs. finally my doctor had to use a vacumn with the last 3 contractions and if she did not come out on the 3rd one i would of had a c-section. finally she came out on the 3rd push on the 3rd contraction. i had 4-5 stitches. i was the 2nd case that has even been that swollen. i couldnt stand straight up untill around 2 weeks. i could sit on hard surfaces so i had to use a doughnut untill 3 weeks.

the first few weeks my fiance stayed becuase i could not get off of the couch except to go to the bathroom. my period lasted for 6.5 weeks. i was trying to breats feed but she tried so hard to latch on but she was not able to. so i pumped for her up untill a month and a half because my nipples were so cracked they were bleeding so i had no choice.

aireana is 2 months and 1 day.

about your labour/delivery: Woke up Saturday morning feeling very off. The headache that I went to bed with was worse and wouldn't go away. I went to the hospital and found that i was pre-ecclamptic and my iron was less than half of what it should have been. I was induced, they started with cervadil 5/29 @ 5pm, removed it at 5 am, no change in dilation. Started Pict and Foley inserted around 8 am removed noonish dilated to 4 and held. Epidural around 2 pm. Nurse midwife was starting to talk c-section and I was told that if the baby wasn't out by 7 that's how it would have to be. I started feeling too much pressure and questioned the nurse who checked and found me fully dilated. 3 pushes and Rhyan was born screaming her head off.

how were the 1st few weeks: okay but she gave me the devil with nursing

how old are they now: she will be 7 wks Sunday

any milestones: smiles, laughing out loud, cooing, rolling

any surprises about anything: I had forgotten how tiring new babies get.

about your labour/delivery: I went to the bathroom that morning and I saw blood. We rushed to the hospital I was already 7cm. My water broke after an hour and half. My doctor arrived at 11:30 letting the nurses prepare everything and at 12:12 the baby arrived.. :)

how were the 1st few weeks: The first weeks was great totally opposite with my first one. I have 4-5 hours sleep.

how old are she now: 7 weeks

any milestones: She sleeps at night just wake up for feeding...
She is trying to roll. She smiles when you talk to her and trying to making baby sounds... :)

My labour was quite long, early labour went for approx 36hrs. Baby was postierior and not engaged causing extremely bad back pain with contractions. My water broke at 12.40pm and I had only dilated 2cm, 2 hours later I had only gotten to 3cm by this time contractions were approx 2mins apart. An epidural was given at 4.30pm and still only 3cm dilated. A drip was started and by 6.30pm i was 4cm dilated. At that stage the doc increased the drip to help speed dilation up. It didn't work I stayed at 4cm. I was taken up stairs to theatre and given an emergency c-section and Dayne was born at 10,24pm,
The first few weeks were good, took a little while to get a routine for bed time but once a routine was established he was great.
Dayne is 10 weeks old today and is the best baby,
From birth he was a very alert baby always looking around and is still doing that, he is a very active baby, always likes to be down on his activity mat or in his bouncer, he is constently making noises and is already trying to roll (although i don't think he knows thats what he's doing). He doesn't sleep much during the day a few 30min cat naps but sleeps for 11-12 hours at night straight through no waking. Perfect bub!

about your labour/delivery: It was crazy. I went to the doctor because I thought I has a bladder infection. When I got there they told me that I was having contractions and my blood pressure was high. They sent me to the hospital. There they couldn't get any blood out of my veins so I had to wait for a while. I was there for most of the day before they decided I wasn't in labor and sent me home. A few hours later I was in so much pain that I called my midwife and she told me to go back. The nurse hooked me up the monitor and I was having irregular contractions and hadn't dilated so she said they were going to send me home. I knew I couldn't go home. I was shaking so bad from the pain. My midwife had me stay since my pressure was still high. About four that morning I lost my mucus plug. At 5 my water broke but I still wasn't dilated. They nurse wanted to wait till my midwife got there to check me again. At six they did and I was 8cm. They got me an epidural cause I couldn't take it anymore. They gave me some pitosin. And then nothing. I didn't dilate anymore till about 3 then I got to push. Well he was face up so he got stuck. After 2 hrs of pushing they were going to try one last time to get him to turn before they were going to do a c-section because my pressure was so high and I had a high fever. By this time the epidural had worn off so they got him turned and finally he came out.
how were the 1st few weeks: They were ok. I was nervous and scared but that was expected.
how old are they now: 7 weeks

about your labour/delivery - My labour went very smooth. I had my epidural at about midnight and i fell alseep right afterwards. I was about 5cms, I woke up with a preasure and i asked for the nurse. She checked me and told me i was ready to push, this was at about 3am... Took about 40 minutes of pushing and my little boy was born. I cried lol

how were the 1st few weeks - Stressful, i was very tired and wasnt overly sure what to do... but thankfully, i am living with my mother in law for a bit so she was a HUGE help.

how old are they now - 10 weeks

any milestones - He sleeps thruout the whole night, He`s just starting to smile and giggles a little..like only once a day lol but he`s starting.

any surprises about anything - How strong he is. He`s holding his head up and likes to sit straight...not long, but he does try. Also how much ``work`` it is to be a mommy. I knew it was going to be, but i didnt realize the amount of overtime there was going to be lol. But its fun :D lol

I started having contractions and was dilated way before. contractions were 2 min apart but not storng enough the day before birth. so I was induced on the 22, around 7am and I had my epidral the night before. at 12pm contractions were strong and long and at 12:33 My baby was born. so I guess you could say I was in labor for about 30 min. due I think to his earilness he has reflux, he kept spitting up and would not go to the bathroom, the dr did something to make him pass that first stool, other than that there were really no suprises. the 1st week was a blur. I did not get much sleep and kept him at my side at all times. He is now smiling but I am not sure if they are real smiles yet. he is now 7 wks old, and the love in my life

About You Labour & Delivery: I started having niggly tightening around 1:30am on the morning of the delivery,so I was taken to the delivery suite and monitored,at around 4:30am I was informed that I was going to have a c-section at around 9am that morning,I was continually monitored from then on,then at around 8:30am that morning I was told I'd been bumped to 1pm and just to rest.My husband and me thought we'd get some sleep,which was long overdue.At around 10am that morning a nurse came in and gave me that vial tasting liquid and said I'd been moved to 11am.So at about 10:45am I was taken to a prep room and given my spinal before being wheeled into the operating room where at 11:13am I heard the most precious sounding cry,it was as if all the lights had been turned off and there was candle light all around the room and my sweet little man let me know that he had made it safely into the world and was ready to meet my husband and me.



How Were The First Few Weeks: Worrying,I couldn't leave my sons side,I was worried that he'd need me and I wouldn't be there for him,so for about the first two weeks I slept like 1 hour a day/night!!!



How Old Are They Now: Jack is a happy healthy well adjusted little 7 week,2 day old



Any Milestones: Jack has Smiled,Giggled and followed with his eyes very quickly,since birth he has used his head alot and the strength of his legs are just amazing!



Any Surprises About Anything: Just the unconditional love that follows onto each child you have.I really thought I'd only ever be able to love my first born,then when Jack made his entrance into the world a whole new chapter opened,its a love that floors me everyday!!!

May 20th was his due date but I got induced on May 12th. After 5 hours of labor I had an emergency C-section because his heart rate kept dropping really low. But now 8 weeks later he's a happy, healthy and chubby baby boy. All he did was eat for the first 6 weeks and has slowed down a little now. He loves to smile all the time.

about your labour/delivery: I was induced May 02nd at ten days late. At Nine oclock on May 03rd, they broke my water and by 1130 was in active labour. I was put on oxytocin at 1230 and by 700pm i was having non-stop contraction which left me having panic attacks and going into shock. The nurse checked me to find I had only dilated one centimetre since 1200pm that day so she gave me an epidural. By 1200am, I had dilated to 5 centimetres. By 1215am I had dilated to 9 centimetres and pushed one and a half hours. I had a third degree tear and Lachlan had a tracheal tug and had to get his stomach pump to drain the amniotic fluid he had swallowed at birth.

how were the 1st few weeks: Other than Lachlan choking the first day, and not wanting to breastfeed, he has been amazing!

how old are they now: just over 9 weeks.

any milestones: Holding his head up since birth and smiling since 1 month. He also started sleeping through the night at 3 weeks.

any surprises about anything: How quickly I healed after a third degree tear. Not fully healed yet but it's gone so smoothly. And For Lachlan, being such calm baby since all the babies I have been around have been colicy!

I was anemic and I couldn't sit up for a few hours and couldnt stand until the next day. I had to have an IV until 3 days after he was born.

About your labor/ delivery: April 29th I woke up experiencing pain in my ribs and shortness of breath. I thought maybe baby had his foot up there like he had before. Thought nothing of it and went on with my day. April 30th woke up feeling the same. My mom and hubby insisted I go to the hospital but I didnt want to go just to be sent home. I took tylenol and actually started to feel a little better. May 1st at 5:30 am my hubby was awaken to me having a seizure, called the ambulance and while being transported to the hospital. I was diagnosed with eclampsia and my pressure was so high that my kidneys had begun to shut down which is why I was having the pain and shortness of breath. The baby had to be born via emergency c-section and spent four weeks in the NICU.

Any milestones: He's smiling, will hold his head up if he's laying on his stomach and he's gaining wieght and catching up faster than any other preemie his doctor has seen. He's doubled his birth weight, you cant even tell he's a preemie by looking at him now

about your labor delivery: My water bag was leaking, so I went to the hospital, I was only 2 cm, they let me try to labor on my own for our hour but my contractions were still like 15 mins apart, she check me an hour later no change so I had to be induced, took another hour to get to 4 cm, after that only took about 45 mins to get to 10, pushed for 30 mins and he was out!
how were the 1st few weeks: They were wonderful, my husband was a huge help keeping the daughter entertained while I cared for the newborn.
how old are they now: He is 7 weeks and 1 day
any milestones: he is smiling, focusing, holds head up, makes the koing noises, sleeping though the night(7-9 hours)
any surprises about anything: He has Colic, really bad from week 4-6....this weeks seems to be better, 2 in diapers really is not bad like everyone said it would be, and being a working mother of 2 really makes you enjoy your alone time with the hubby.
