My 8 month old has had his own sippy cup since he was 4 months old but he won't drink out of it lol. He prefers to drink out of his big brothers sippy cup, or just a regular cup ( with assistance) So, I thought that maybe his sippy cup wasn't that appealing to him so I got him another cup with a cartoon character on it. He still won't drink from his own cup, any thoughts?

both of mine drink from regular sippy cups.. the ones with the long spouts. i havent tried the ones with the straws yet. they dont get anymore bottles since they figured out how to disassemble them.. i took those away a few weeks ago altogether.. just keep trying different ones till you find ones that your baby will like and use =)

Micah has had a sippy since he was 3? mo old..it was summer and he wanted to chew on his brother's...so we put a littttle water in it for cool chew comfort...and then all of the sudden he switched and loves the straw cups..he steals my cups out of my hands..so basically whatever fluid filled object he can get to..he takes! I just have to make sure nothing my toddler is drinking he gets to if its not something i want him to have....since he has only had water and diluted apple or orange juice....lol

Rose uses a sippy cup, but she can only get the liquid out herself if it's super full. She hasn't learned to tip it up yet! It seems she has mastered the suck needed though, as she can get it out of any different type of cup. She's been using cups since we started with food, around 6 months. She does sometimes choke, since she doesn't always stop the flow properly once she gets her suck on! :)

my lo has been using a sippy with a straw top since 4 months and now uses a regular sippy with a hard top also. my kids always liked the NUBY cups the best. u might just have to play with the style till u find one he likes.

My son wouldnt drink from the first sippy cup we bought, so we bought him another one with a different top and he loves it, it could be the type, I know the first one we bought tasted like rubber and he didnt like the taste lol

Let him drink from the regular cup with assistance. My daughter used a sippy cup with a silicone top, then we moved to the hard topped one when she was 10 months old.

My daugther can't suck from the sippy cup yet. But we always try and give her the chance. Have you tried different tops? Different sippy cups? All babies are different, some prefer the hard ones, others prefer the soft.

I've tried a sippy a few times, my son plays with it, sometimes gets a drink out of it, then crawls away. Definately not like his big sister, she took right to a sippy at 8 months :-)

We haven't tried a cup yet.

She can drink out of my regular cup if I hold it though.

Idk why I haven't taught her to use one yet, just haven't had the need yet!

I'm sure your son and my daughter will learn to drink out of cups regardless!

My older son had a straw cup he liked, so if you want you could try different cups but if you have no need for him to have a cup then just give it time!

They all learn one way or another ;-)

My daughter refused the bottle once I found a cup she really liked. Now she will only drink out of straw cups (sippy or regular) and a nalgene sippy.

My suggestion would be buy a kind with a different top. Some babies like the soft, some like the rim kind, some straws, some hard, etc.
