Clothes during Nursing

I stopped wearing any tops to bed...because even with pads I would be soaked halfway through the night. I put a towel down underneath me and kept a hand towel to press over the breast DS wasn't nursing on so he wouldn't get a milk bath. It helped a lot in the beginning when my nipples were so raw that it hurt for anything to touch them.

I will tell you from both perspectives (a mother and a sales women for maternity clothing) As a mother myself, like others have said you might not have to worry about the nursing pads after your milk supply is regulated, however everyone is different. I used the nursing pads for the first few week and haven't used them since! (my son is 11 weeks) I used a nursing bra at the beginning but found it uncomfortable due to my not wearing a bra to bed period before nursing. As the consumer....I recommend at the least two nursing bras..and if you want to wear them at night...four! You always want one to wear! One in the wash one to wear! If you leak a lot, you may have to do a hand wash on your bra's so you can have it available when you need it rather then doing a whole load of laundry just for one bra!! There is also nursing pajamas available that have the built in bras which are great for support and holding the pads in!! You will get through this little bump in the road!! good luck!

Yes you usually stop leaking! Some rare ladies keep on for a while, but most I've talked to stop leaking somewhere around 2-6 months. I stopped about 3 months with my son, hoping to stop soon this time too!

I got my nursing bras at walmart, two for $13.99 and I use the lansinoh breast pads from walmart also, it turns to gel inside so you don't have to worry about leaking all the way through the pad. I've seen those lily pads though, they look like they'd work great...do you eventually stop leaking??

I use Lily Pads...they are silicone breast pads and they are amazing. They stick to your nipples and I have yet to leak at all! I got them at Target for $20. I can wear them alone underneath my tanks at night.

I use nursing sleep bras most of the time, but I also like nursing camis. the camis are nice to wear when it's it hot, but I can throw any shirt on over them to wear any season, anywhere, so I can also wear them when no longer nursing! they have a built in bra and unclasp like a nursing bra. I like that my pads don't slip around while I sleep like they do with some sleep bras. If you get one look for one that has straps that don't "fall off" when you unclasp. I like motherhood maternity

hi, i am wearing a nursing bra to bed under a singlet top, it is winter here, and feeding in the unheated house in the middle of the night is not fun. But i found with my first (born at the begining of summer) that a nursing bra under pjs was the easiest way for me to sleep with outleaking everywhere

I sleep in a very loose nightgown or light shirt or tank--no bra. of course, I'm trying to make it through with just one nursing bra right now--terrible, because I can't find any that support my insanely big breasts. Anyone have suggestions for great nursing bras for those of us with way too much weight for the usual $16.99 deal? As for leaking--I just have stained shirts now that I use for bed and save the pads for when I'm out in the world.

I leak so much that wearing a nursing bra and pads doesn't do a thing. Because I hate the cold, wet feeling, I sleep naked on folded up towel. I leave some length dangling so that I can use that to not leak all over my self for night feedings. During an overnight stay in the hospital for my third daughter's surgery, I slept in a light weight robe, open down the middle and with a towel cuddled to my chest that way I was mostly covered and could get up and down without flashing anyone.

Thanks so much ladies. Yes, I went to Target and got some sleep nursing bras and a regular nursing bra... I HATE leaking and I hate wearing bras to bed. Most of your comments made me crack up because I feel you completely (boob hang out and who cares, lol) Thanks again... hopefully they will stop leaking soon. I just hate how expensive they are...$16.99 for one and this is my last kid!!!

I wear a nursing bra to bed and a t shirt over it but I end up sleeping all night with my shirt pulled up and my boob hanging out anyways :) too lazy to ut it back in, I leak right now too, but less then before, and I know eventually I'll quit leaking entirely, probably soon.

I have 4 nursing bras and just wear tanks all the time...I don't even know why i try to wear regular shirts lol i just have to rip them off to nurse

I honestly sleep with just a t-shirt and no nursing pads. I tried a nursing bra with my 1st and I didn't like it. I used to have a nursing pad by my bed and I would put it on the non-nursing side when I nursed, but I've gotten lazy recently and don't even care anymore lol.

I wear my normal nursing bra to bed and a pair of sleep shorts. I wore bra pads the whole time I nursed my first and am planning on doing the same with my second, could tell when they shifted at night with the first because had a very wet bra the next morning :-)

just get more nursing sleep bras, they will be your best friend until your milk regulates, and you dont leak, for me its about a month and i can stop wearing breast pads, some its longer and some have to wear them the whole time they nurse, i would say you probably want 4 sleep bras and 3-4 nursing bras that way you dont find your self with out a clean one and i hate wearing the underwire bras to bed because they are uncomfortable and can cause clogged ducks, and hate wearing sleep bras out because they dont support, and good stash of both is important and as long as you have those what you wear over it doesnt matter, you can lift a shirt that doesnt fold down
