for the last 3 days my lo hasnt been nursing as well (as often or as long) or sleeping good at night. he has been having crying spells where nothing soothes him. it is very frustrating i have 2 other children to take care of and a husband who doesnt help much if at all. Every day my lo has a different nursing/napping schedule. i cant seem to get him on the same schedule everyday. at night with his crying spells he wakes up everyone in the house. he isnt teething we just popped out 2 teeth in the last 3 weeks. hasnt been sick. i was thinking a possible ear infection he pulls at them every once in a while.

Any Advice or suggestions on maybe what could be going on and maybe something that might help ?

he is a very active baby. he has to keep moving all the time he recently started crawling and wants to be taken everywhere. i have to put him in a carrier to do my house chores or he cries in his saucer or johnny jumper or anything i put him in. he can get out of the bouncy seat refuses the high chair unless he is being fed.

my other 2 children were very calm babies.

I had the same issue with Isabella until I figured that she wanted to sleep on her side or tummy, not in her back anymore. Also she wakes up to eat around 4-6 am every other night.
She eats solids now and only what her Dr. told me to.
She is a very active baby during the day and if she doesn't fall asleep when she starts getting tired, she will scream and cry for hours...

good luck

It is different! I only have two so far but they're so different.
It's crazy sometimes I think I don't even know my baby! She's so much more comp,ex then my son was and so loud and demanding and she needs to be helped instantly or she flips out.
Just keep nursing, won't quit and he will figure himself out.
It will improve soon, or at least it will change to a new challenge :)
You're a good mommy! Just keep up the nursing and try to hang in there!

Oh Ya. He is definitely distracted any time there is a new noise he stops to look. Think he does like nursing at night.I'm more calm then too. if only my other 2 would get along for 10 min lol they r ages 4 and 8. He does sleep on the belly its the only way he will sleep. I have notice his routine changes often. More then my other two ever did lol. He has recently stoped his screaming fits at 2am and has decided that at 6am is time to get up and play. Which is ok I'm not a morning person but hey it just takes a little adjusting to. Ya Normal is in the eye of the beholder lol. Thank you for your help. Its amazing how every baby is so different.

Do you think hes distracted in the daytime? So maybe he prefers nursing at night when it's dark and calm and quiet?
I've heard many moms say this around the ages where baby learns to crawl or walk.
Maybe test out if he eats better in a quiet dark room once, I know easier said then done with other kids but maybe a tv show would entertain them just go see if this is the cause.
Do you let him sleep on his belly? He is old enough to safely choose his sleep position.

My best advise I ever got was that most baby habbits last about 2 weeks. Good or bad, babies change very often and a new chance is usually gone and on to the next one in a few weeks.
Hopefully this too will just be a phase and he will be back to 'normal' soon. Whatever normal is right!

he has recently gotten 2 teeth and has started to learn to crawl. He doesn't like sleeping on his back or with me. He will with me if he doesn't feel good. I don't eat much nuts or dairy. Yes he does nurse better at night always has. He has been getting solids for about 1 1/2 months now and he just recently started this. No bottles anymore and only has pacifier for nap and bed.

Could this have started when you introduced solids?
Or did it start when he learned to crawl? Sometimes learning a new skill can throw them back a few steps in other things.
Could he be sensitive to something you're eating? Like some babies are sensitive if mom eats a lot of dairy. Or nuts.
Could it be teeth coming through? He's the right age for teeth to start and that would make it tender to nurse so he would likely nurse less often and shorter times since it hurts.
As for sleeping, does he want to be sleeping in bed with you? Does he prefer to sleep on his belly or back or side? You could experiment a bit and see what he likes better. My babes always slept best if I held them in bed all night. They wanted access to the boob all night!
Does he nurse better in the night time when he's sleepy?
You could also try take away the pacifier and any bottles as sometimes they start preferring the bottles because they don't have to use their jaw muscles to drink from bottles.

I hope something in this belpsM let me know if you have any more insight as to what's wrong, I might be able to help further or direct you to a website.
