Weight gain

Some hate gaining weight, some find it fun!
Some struggle gaining too much, some struggle gaining enough!

But one way or another we all deal with weight issues so why not complain and share with each other!
It's nice to hear someone having the same problems sometimes.
And as we all start to get into our second trimester I bet there will be a lot of pounds coming soon.

If you have older children, how was your weight gain with them?
Anyone gained or lost weight in these early weeks?

week 37 and so far 28 pounds isn't a lot but on my 5'3, 110 pound frame it's killing my feet and lags!

Yeah, same here. I don't like that number I'm seeing, I *know* it's good and fine etc. But still it looks very heavy to me.

35 weeks and up 35 pounds. haha. But like Laura, I was "underweight" so that's right at what I should have gained already :)
ugh still...seeing the scale is kinda depressing when you're so used to being SO MUCH smaller haha

4 weeks to go, up 50 pounds, what I gained my first pregnancy but I only lost 40 so I'm higher now than I was with Megan. Not even saying what that weight is though :-) Although I am 6' tall, so I am heavier to start with anyway. I figure hey, this is my last baby, I now have the rest of my life to take the weight off, and if weighing 10-20 pounds more after 2 kids is the price I pay, it is still all worth it. Although I will admit it was MAJOR shock when I had to go out and buy jeans to come back to work in and I had went up so many sizes after my first baby :-D And that was fall, this time going back in summer so I guess I get to buy a whole new shorts wardrobe, although my shirts all still fit fine, damn hips :-)

I was borderline underweight so my recommendation was 35-45 lbs. I'm at plus 40 lbs now with two weeks to go so I'm pleased!

well i have been told between 15-25 pounds os im just hoping to get to the lower end of the recomendations and it also depends on where your bmi is at before pregnancy and i was on the border of normal and overweight, i live in michigan and again the recomendations are placed by you pre pregnancy size.

Oh wow, 15? Where do you live? Up here the recommeded is 25-35, that's a huge difference!

Well, last weekend was my 25th birthday and I demolished half of a chocolate cream pie so up another 2lbs to 18. Whatever. :)

I feel like I've gained too much, but I was pretty light before conceiving and barely in the ok range of bmi. But the fact ive gained more this time then with Eric bugs me. I was 141 at delivery with Eric, but I'm already 150 with three weeks to go. But I'm also swollen at my feet and legs while I wasn't with Eric so I bet I have some water weight on too. I hate swollen feet! So painful and ugly :(

With my first son, I gained 53 pounds. I was very active during my pregnancy, but I guess it didn't matter. I didn't really mind, I just didn't want to hit 200 pounds, for some reason that number didn't sit well in my mind! I weighed in at 198 the day he was born! I lost most of the weight by 6 months and then started running again and ran a marathon when he was almost a year. I was definitely back to 145 that way. I am 35 weeks along with my second son and I have gained 42 pounds. I'm on bed rest this time and again the 200 mark is looming, but I have 13 pounds to spare in the next 5 weeks, we'll see if I can stay below!

I had two pieces of cake today :) it's not always possible to eat healthy for 9 months straight! But I think balance is key. And at least TRYING to eat healthy makes you in a better state of mind to actually improve.even if you indulge a bit, or alot here and there!

I've lost weight again ladies :(
I'm so annoyed by it. I don't see my midwife often enough for her to notice or ask, never mind care....
I'm down to 9st'4, i was 10st'5 at 10 weeks.
Due in 5 n a half.
It's a bit annoying. I'm trying very hard to regulate what i eat, avoid carbonated drinks and unnecessary chocolate and cake, and have full carby meals and plenty of iron rich food, since the midwife told me at 32 weeks i was anaemic.

Martha my doctor told me that in the last few weeks (32-40) that its safe AND normal to gain from 1-3 lbs a week. It may take work to get back to previous weight but like this baby, good things come with time patience and hard work. Which is what Im gonna be doing when i have the energy to do when my sons here. So far only gained 18 lbs too. Due MAY 17!!!!!

Martha, I heard a spike in gain is normal around there because that's when baby starts putting on their own body fat :) I had a period of 3 weeks where I gained 7lbs, but my totally gain is also alot higher then yours. 36lbs for me so far, hopefully no more!

34.5 weeks now and I'm up from 107 to 143! So that's 36 lbs. Dang, I was hoping to keep it under 35 lbs. Oh well 5.5 weeks left, hopefully I keep it under 40lbs!
(and everyone keeps saying I barely look pregnant! I mean what the heck? I feel huge!)

32+3 and i lost 14lbs before i was 20 weeks!! :( Same thing happened with number one though so i wasn't too concerned, i started off at 10st on the dot, and now i'm 10st 5lbs so its all good :) (14lbs to a st) I gained all that weight back in about 4 weeks when the cravings kicked in cos OBVIOUSLY i wasn't going to crave anything healthy, oh nooo, coca cola and chocolate cake, 24/7 (literally, i'd wake up and eat a chocolate bar, sometimes twice a night!!)
Now i'm trying to just maintain the weight, eating lots of protein and carbs, and upping my iron cos of the anaemia that decided to manifest at 30 weeks.
Hope all you mums are good!
COUNT DOWN HAS BEGUN!!

With my first pregnancy I started at 115 and gained right at 20 lbs, not as much as the doctor was wanting, and this time I started at 110 and am at just over 27 weeks and have gained about 8 lbs. I am really wounding if I'm going to gain as much as I did with my first, but my doctor isn't as worried as she saw me thru the first one

i started out over ideal weight but luckily at 27 weeks i've only gained 9 lbs. i've been trying to eat extremely healthy, not dieting! just not eating fast food, sweets or junk food much - every once in a while i give in to cravings ;-) i told my OB Doc that at my 1st appt and he was very doubtful when he said "we'll see how you do". Funny, now he's very pleased with me overall :-)

so far so good...i was a bit higher than me or my doc wanted me to be..ie i gained 35 with my first one..and then lost 50 after i had him..then gained 28 when my hubby got back from deployment :( boo...then got all excited to try for a baby and didnt lose weight in time...so my doc told me to try to stay in the 20 range...
so far.....im 24 wks..and ive gained 1 lb....i was thrilled since i had some weight on me to begin with ...and baby is growing just fine :)

When he was measuring my uterus yesterday and saw the hight, he said (and I quote) "jesus christ, this two are stretching you like if there is no tomorrow...that must hurt"
