What's your baby eating?

I thought we could start a thread on what "solids" your babies have tried, and what they like, or don't. This isn't for debating when or how much or any of that. Just "we tried this and baby liked it/didn't like it/made a funny face about it/ate it all and we had to get more".

Rose has had some rice rusks, plain flavour, and she likes them a lot. Then I tried the rusks in vegetable flavour...not a hit. Funny faces galore with them. We also have tried rice cereal a few times, but she doesn't seem too keen on it, and it might be causing her to spit up more. She only eats maybe a teaspoonful each time, but it seems she spits it all back about an hour or 2 later. I'm going to try it once more, and if it still is the same we may try sometime else like oats, or even meat. Not sure yet.

I finally found something besides oatmeal that RJ likes! He's had peas, green beans and squash and didn't care for any of them, green beans least of all! Sweet Potatoes! He LOVES 'em! I've never seen him eat anything so fast! He just Downs it and he actually makes the "yummmmmm" sound while he's eating! Love him!

Wow thats a lot! It's so weird thinking about babies fiernas age eating so much foods, she had a month from 4-5 months where she dove for every food item! Now she doesn't really care anymore so it's uncertain when she will start solids. The rate she's growing I'm sure it doesn't need to be soon at all :)

my twins pretty much eat everything they love all the first foods and are on a lot of the second foods.. they dont care for the jarred meats but love to chew on a strip of steak(they dont swallow it just chew) they love lactaid ice cream too great for babies with lactose intolorance. we also have started giving our daughter a few bites of regular food since she grabs the food off our plates.. she loves chewing on celery sticks. oatmeal and rice cereal are also on the regular menu as well..

I do taste all her food. If I am going to let her eat it, I want to make sure its not awful! If I think its awful, I wouldn't feed it to her. Therefore, she will never eat baby food meats. She can just wait until she is old enough to eat regular meats to try them haha

Remember, each baby is unique, just because the "official" age is 6mo does not mean you Have to wait that long. I am a little suprised about the variety already given. I've been waiting a bit longer to introduce new things, so RJ has only had a few veggies, but maybe I can step up my pace a little. I Do taste his food. I figure if I'm gonna expect him to eat it I should know what it tastes like.

Sofia liked so far Pears (only cooked and puree), artichokes (yes...artichokes) boiled so she can chew on the leaves, avocado, and tangerines (she loves to suck the juice out of it)
Isabella tried all that and the only thing she likes so far are pears and apples. But both started to ask for food when we are having dinner all together, want to grab glasses and food out of plates

I'm in Canada and we have Baby Mum Mum's (and Toddler Mum Mum's which are a different shape, but the same thing) and they are rice rusks. They are basically rice cereal formed into biscuits and dried. They start to dissolve right away in baby's mouth, so there is not really any chance of choking if they haven't mastered chewing yet.

Our doctor says 4 months too. Rice rusks are in the US..can be bought anywhere baby food is sold...
Biter biscuits are for babies that can get anything to their mouth..until they have teeth they have no risk of biting anything off..just suck on them really and "chew." Still should be supervised but still :)

Rice risks I believe is an Australian thing.....biter biscuits ive been told are ok whenever you begin solids.
That's odd your dr said you should start at 4 months I read the official recommendation is 6 months.

My son just turned 5 months a few days ago. He has been eating oatmeal with apple/prune juice in the am and with breastmilk at night for about a month. He LOVES it! I've tried peas and he is NOT a fan! He always makes a face and it sounds like he's saying "Yuck!" We're taking a break from peas for a week and then we're gonna try green beans and come back to peas later. I haven't tried biter buscuits yet, I didn't know a baby this young could have them. What are rice rusks? How do you know when your baby is ready for biter buscuits? The pediatrician told us at his 4month check that we could start solids. But does that include biter biscuits already? Clearly I am a first time mom. lol.

I can't believe this many 4-5 month olds are given solids! I guess I assumed everyone waited 6 months......very good to know! I'm excited to see if I get any funny faces out of her when we start foods!

My son has tried Sweet potatoes, carrots, prunes, pears, bananas, squash, and rice cereal. I make some of the foods myself with my food processor and others i just buy at the store. So far he hasn't had an allergic reaction or anything and he only eats solids once a day, the rest of the time it's bottles. To make sure he doesn't have any tummy issues i always give him only one thing (such as sweet potatoes) for about 3 days in a row, to make sure he's used to it and doesn't have a reaction. The only thing i didn't do that with is the prunes and thats because i didn't want a massive diaper explosion... i only gave him the prunes because he was started to get constipated. 4oz of prunes cleared that right up! LOL

Gavyn loves cereal, he eats so much before bed. He's plowed through rice, corn, and wheat no problem. He also loves sweet potatoes but wasn't keen on bananas or carrots. He'll eat them though when I mix them into the cereal.

Jessica, how old is Rose? When my daughter started to show a distaste for rice cereal I changed her to oatmeal and she loves it(:

Rose had squash for the first time yesterday and she loved it! I had to make a second tiny dishful for her! She totally did the little birdy with the mouth open for it, but she doesn't do that for the rice cereal. Glad to see that she likes eating different things. :)

Katheryn has been eating rice cereal mixed with formula since she was 3 in a half months. Now she's 5 months and a week and she eats sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, apple sauce and bananas. She recently has started eating Stage 2 baby foods. She is quite the little piglet.

Noah has tried rice cereal and seems to like it. Mainly he is just breast fed, but wanted to see if giving him cereal would help him to stop throwing up, and maybe sleep a little bit longer at night. He only has it once close to bed time. We will try more when he turns 6 months. The cereal is starting to constipate him a bit thought so we may change to Oat instead. He has had the rice husks a few times too..its hit and miss. He just likes to put it in his mouth on his own. its nice practice!

In tried apples and pears so far. we started the twins on solids a few weeks ago.
Sofia hates apples to the point of gagging when I try to feed her. Isabella loves apples.
Sofia loves pears so much that she ate an entire pear yesterday (I boiled it and puree an entire pear) and Isa couldn't care less about it.

Fierna is exclusively breastfed still :) she used to react to me drinking caffeine but recently I can drink it again! I missed my mountain dew haha
When we do start we will be doing egg yolks, avocado, banana, carrots, peas, beans. Stuff like that. :-)

Rose got to try applesauce this week. She made sour faces, but she kept opening her mouth for the spoon. Yesterday she tried mashed potatoes and seemed to like them too. The rice rusks are still a favourite and we aren't eating on any real schedule...just when she seems to be more hungry.

Zachary started eating 2 weeks ago. We tried at the end of August right before he turned 4 months and it was not successful so we waited about a month and tried again. The second try wasn't looking promising either until I fed him the peas right from the fridge. Ever since, he hasn't looked back. So far he's only eating rice cereal, peas, and green beans. We're going to try sweet potatoes today and the rest of the week. He only gets solids once a day, an hour before his late afternoon feeding. We like to use solids as a snack instead of a meal replacement so he still nurses 6-8 times a day.

Emmi is four 1/2, we have tried rice cereal and oatmeal cereal. she didn't like rice cereal the first fours days, liked it moderately the last two days. now the oatmeal she likes much better. we probably will do one more cereal and then start with the puree green veggies in a week or so.

Rylie is now 5 months.
She has had sweet potatoes, bananas, green beans, pears, apples, squash, barley, oatmeal, rice, biter biscuits and rice rusks.
Rice constipates her so that is definitely a no go. The barley and oatmeal she likes..but not by itself. She is not a jar food banana fan...but seems to like it ok if I just mash one up. Still not her favorite, but she likes the real deal better. Her favorite by far is green beans!
She's gonna try peaches tomorrow :)
