New to Ann Arbor

Hi Moms! My name is Jen and I have a 9 month old daughter named Noe (pronounced No-E). We currently live in PA but will be moving to michigan early next year. My husband's job is asking us to move to the Ann Arbor area. We will be driving there in 2 weeks to look around. Does anyone have any suggestions for groups and programs for moms and babies that I could join? I work here, but when we move I will be a SAHM and I'm very interested in finding ways to get connected to other moms in the area.

Any tips about anything would be helpful! This is a huge move for us and its pretty nerve-wracking.

Ypsilanti is a great town. I live just on the edge of Ann Arbor and Ypsi. There are a lot of great neighborhoods in Ypsilanti. College Heights and Normal Park are two of my favorites. There are also some great places just outside of Ypslianti in the Ann Arbor area. Ypsilanti township is growing by leaps and bounds and there are a lot of nice developments. As for finding groups of moms, if you're a nursing mom, the La Leche League groups in the area are very active and a great place to start networking. There is also a good Recreation and Education program associated with the public schools. Enrolling in a Mom & Tot class would be a fun way to meet other moms.

Thanks! My daughter has the same outfit! She wore it on Sunday. We're looking at buying a house in Ypsi. What area do you live in? Which do you think are good towns and which are places we should stay away from?

Ann Arbor is a great city! Lots of events in the city, churches, fairs, parks, etc. It is a great place to go and my husband and I spend many date nights there. I live right outside of AA. I have a cloth diaper business in my home. Hope your move goes well!

I live about an hour from Ann Arbor but I'm quite certain there will be PLENTY of ways to get connected there. AA is one of the most active cities I've seen in a while. I don't know of any personally since I wouldn't drive that far to go to one, but I just wanted to give you some encouragement. I' sure you won't have a problem finding any! :)
