This was a reply posted to a question in the Breastfeeding Moms community (you might have seen it):
"though I was very lucky that none of my children ever spit up they all had to be put on soy formula. I do watch 2 infants and one has acid reflux and has to have drops prescribed by a doctor before he eats and the other had to have her formula changed too many times to count ultimately they determine she was lactose intolerant. You should also try keeping him upright after feeding him because if he does have acid reflux laying him flat will make it worse."
I see this crap all the time in my local WIC office where I provide my services. These babies are so sick from drinking this stuff! The parents are constantly bringing in notes from pediatricians or constantly calling with some kind of problem saying that they need different formula. We always feel like saying "they don't need a different formula, they need to be breastfed!" Or when we look at the large percentage of babies who are considered lactose intolerant and receiving soy formula, we're like "they're not lactose intolerant, they're formula intolerant!"
It is so frustrating to see these poor babies suffering and no one willing to call the formula industry out on it! Instead, it's the baby's fault-"he has GERD", "she is lactose intolerant", "he has colic/gas", etc. It is not the babies' fault that they are being fed an inferior food that is making them sick!
