Elementary schools in or around Ft Hood

Anyone have some good information they can provide on the elementary schools in or around Ft. Hood? We are moving there this year (perhaps summer) and need to find a place to live. I normally choose that location based on the school. Thanks!

Bridget, I too live in HH, and my daughter has attended Nolanville for the last 3 years. I LOVE it! The teachers are wonderful, the Principle is the best around...I personally think it's a top notch school.

My daughter has went to both Duncan Elementary (in the Comanche 3 neighborhood) and Meadows Elementary (Wainwright Height, Patton Park, and Chaffee Village) on post and they are both excellent schools. I cannot think of any complaints I've had about either of them.

I live in Copperas Cove, and have been very happy with the school system here. Like Brittany said, they are very understanding about military issues :) My kids are in 5th and 9th grades, and have been here since 3rd and Pre K. They have never had a teacher that I was not thrilled with.

We lived in Copperas Cove when we were at Fort Hood and I loved the school system there. They were really nice about the struggles that military children can go through and are very understanding to things such as R & R among other things :)

What grades are your children in? I know on post that 4th graders go to meadows and it's a good school! Middle school starts at 6th grade so it depends on their ages! We live on post and our kids like their schools (smith & meadows). Meadows uses buses but smith students walk! I've also been told copperas cove has an EXCELLENT high school. Hope this helps

Bridget my sister in laws kids go to the elementary on post and they walk to and from everyday and I haven't heard any complaints about their teachers or about the school.

Well I live in the Harker Heights area and my little girl goes to Nolanville Elementary and I really have liked all her teachers. And I love being in this area.
