ok seriously dont get the maternity ones from davids bridal! Tried one on to be a bridesmaid while 6 months pregnant (I was due to be 8 months pregnant at the wedding) and they are moomoos!! Depending on how much time you have house of brides online has a great selection of maternity formal dresses that you can order but most take 8 - 12 weeks. Otherwise check out the prom/homecoming sections (even at davids bridal) find something empire waisted with a "pleated" looking body that flares, even if it stretches over your tummy it will still look classy. Not to be crude But, find one with a decent neckline, you dont want to have everything hanging out!

My daughter was 3 weeks when we had my husbands winter formal. So I wasn't huge but I still had quite a lot of tummy. I got my dress at Forever 21. It had a pretty low cut top then sinched just under my boobs and flared out. I figured I wanted to accentuate the parts that looked good then nobody would notice my stomach. The dress was short though so I don't know if I'd wear it to a ball. Just try to shop around. You should still be able to fit into non maternity clothes if the material stretchs enough and its cut right.
