Hello ladies, hope you don't mind me chiming in. We just moved to Cheyenne about 2 months ago, and my 2 year old is bored out of her mind! :-) She sees little kids walking down the street and says "there's my friends". I'm taking that as a sign to join a playgroup. The one y'all are talking about, is that the MOPS group?

Hi Christian! Sorry it took me so long to reply back, I'm in the final stretch of my pregnancy and I feel like I am an invalid! LOL!
Anyways, for you and Jessica, if you guys would like, the MOMS Club in Cheyenne is having an Open House on March 15th from 9:30am-11:30am at the First Baptist Church off of Pershing next to Carey Junior High. Its on the left if you're coming from base and its just past the Capitol Movie Theater. If you guys would like to attend please go for it! We have meetings once a month and there's usually always something going on during the week.
I'm not sure if I will be there or not, as of this weekend our little one is considered full term and I don't think she's going to want to stay in too much longer. But if all stays the same then I will definitely be there!
Christian--> Are you guys living on base? I have a 5 year old son too and he gets just as bored! I feel bad because he really doesn't have much to do and taking him to the Moms meetings helps because then at least he can play with some other kids. But I'm always looking for someone for him to play with since his brother goes to school during the day and he feels a little left out.
But if you would like some more info please let me know! They have play dates at the mall and library and stuff. Also, swimming once a month.
If theres anything else I can let you guys know about please let me know!
I gotta run though, time to make sure that my oldest is getting ready for school and I have a 36wk doc appt this morning.
Have a great day!

I'm curious about the mom's club too :) We are pretty new to the area. We came here after my husband got back from Korea. I have a 5 year old son, Nick. He gets pretty bored around here since it's usually too cold or windy to play outside for long. We live on base. When we were at Keesler, we did MOMS Club and we loved it! I definitely miss having the mommy talk while the kids play

It's at 9:30am and if you go straight down Pershing its on your left (going away from base) right past one of the schools. Just past the Capitol movie theater. They have a lot that they do, and the church is just one of the places they meet. It's an international thing, so if you move you can still be with a group in your area. I think they have a membership fee once a year to help out with costs of different things they do. But if you can look it up online, they have more info on there. Its called Moms Club of Cheyenne. It looks really neat, and I can't wait to go on Tuesday, it gives me something to look forward to. They meet the first tuesday of the month and I think they are having a Christmas party this Tuesday night too. If you go to the meeting I'm sure they'll be talking about it!
Wow recruiting! How does he like it? How long has he been in? Kris has been in over 10 years now and so far this base has been the best as far as hours go. He only works Monday-Thursday from 6-4:30. He loves it. Granted I'm not too thrilled with the area, I can't stand the thought of how many registered sex offenders there are here, and some live less than a mile from the schools! But we're managing.
How do you like living off base? I don't mind being on base, but I think in a few years, if we decide to stay, then we will try and find something out in Cheyenne. I am looking at starting school hopefully soon to get my gen ed classes out of the way and I'd like to take nursing. I'd really like to become a midwife and so far, between the military paying for spouse education and Cheyenne putting out more education for nurses and stuff, I think this area would be a good start.
We are definitely excited to be having a girl! My boys had a bet going, my oldest wanted another brother and my youngest wanted a sister. But now my oldest is getting used to the idea. I think this will be it for us. Between the boys and now a girl, I'm not sure if I really want to do the diaper/bottle thing again, LOL!
It's been 5 years since I did this last and it feels like a new experience all over again!

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one! LOL! We moved here in May from NC and live on base. I've met some people but not many. I have two boys, Kaleb 7 1/2 and Konnor 5 on Sunday. Plus we are due for a baby girl in March! I just recently found a moms group in the area too. They are having a meeting on Tuesday morning at First Baptist and my youngest and I are going to go to try and meet some other moms and kids as well.
Are you guys on base? What does your hubby do? Mine is a mechanic and just left for CA to attend a class and won't be back until the 17th. Then he has to leave again in January for a month for another class. My sister will be here that month, but I know I'm still going to be going crazy not having any adult conversation! LOL!
