So my husband has recieved two sets of orders in the past 24 hrs. His branch manager says he can choose which one to go through with first. One is for Germany one is to become a recruiter.
My question is what is it like for the recruiter and to be a recruiters wife? What will his hours be? Is it as bad as it use to be with long hours many days of the week?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

my husband use to be a recruiter it is the number one way to end up divorced we were in recruiting back when late nights and worked weekedns i ready a post earlier it hasnt changed if i were u i would get recruiting out of the way my husband said recruiting is not the real army and i agree with him since i me tand we married during recruiting and also almost divorced because of it

My husband is working on his 2nd yr of recruiting. Some of what it is like depends on where you are I think. My husband is at a small station where they just have 2 guys so they HAVE to work together.There are other stations where it is more cut throat because they do have a quota of recruits that they have to get each month. They are working less hours than they used to, but my husband will still have Saturday appointments sometimes and his phone rings constantly. Also our area's MEPS is about an hour and 15 minutes away, but because they are a small station they have to drive all of their recruits there and back. So there are mornings he gets up at 3 AM to take someone up and still works until 6 at night. A usual day for him is to be there at about 8:30 and he is usually home by 7 or 8 unless they have a function at a school or something.They have "rules" about working 9-5 but in reality that isn't always what happens, expecially at the small stations. As far as good things, at least I know he won't be deployed so he will actually be here for our 3rd child's birth in August. Most of the other wives where we are are nice and help each other out if needed. We have an unusual housing situation because we are close to a military school so we actually live in post housing, but most of the time that is not the case. Also in school they usually let you pick a region you want to go to, so it is easier to get within visiting distance of home if that is important to you ( we ended up 3 hours from family), and there are good awards you can get if you work hard, and if he really likes it there is an option to change his MOS to recruiting. It is stressful, and I have found you have to be flexible. We make plans to do things and sometimes he has to cancel at the last minute because of work, but I try not to get mad about it. My husband is a recruiter but he is in a diff type of environment than regular recruiting. Recruiting is a lot easier these days due to the economy and the war. Because of the mass rates of suicides in recruiters they have made new rules to where they are only allowed to work 5 days a week 9-5. Recruiting is hard work and they have to put a certain amount of people in a month or they get not so great reviews by commanders and such. The positive is NO DEPLOYING! I think I would rather have my husband around putting in long hours than in a war torn country risking his life. :o) Hope this helps a little and good luck!
