Hey. Trying to get to know more moms around here. Are there any that live in the OKC area near Tinker?

Hi!! We are also stationed at Tinker, my husband works on the AWACS, and we live right outside of base. We have a daughter that is 5, and one that lives in Arkansas that is 9. We are always looking for new people to meet and fun things to do outside of the house.

Thank you Kat! I didn't do much for my 25th birthday either. My husband works on the AWACS too. He is finishing up training to be an Air Battle Manager, so he'll be one of the ones telling all the pilots what to do. Yeah, long hours suck. Right now I'm lucky he just works regular days, but ABM's deploy alot. It isn't usually for more than a month or two at a time, thank goodness, but it is pretty often so when all that starts I'm sure I will hate it. Both of us are AF brats so our families are far away. (not as far as England of course) :) Mine are in North Dakota and his are in Washington so we're lucky to see them twice a year. By the way Kat, I know another military wife who grew up in England. You wouldn't think it to look at her, she is Vietnemese, but she lived in England all her life till she married and came over here. Maybe within a few weeks here I will host a get together and have ya'll meet some other military wive's I know. I'm thinking a weekend would be best so you don't have to bring the kids unless you want to. Let me talk it over with my hubby, what do you think?

[deleted account]

I didn't do anything for my birthday, and i turned 21 lol. Well Aaron got me a drink but that was about it. I'm free on the weekend but just really broke, thank god its almost payday. My husband wants to transfer to the gunships so we can get out of here. He's from washington, so he doesnt' see family alot but he's been stationed in oklahoma quite a while. i had friends here but they were backstabbers and basically using me for gain, so i dropped them, the rest went away when i had kairi since they didn't understand i can't go to the club all the time, or party. Happy Late birthday :). My husband works on the AWACS, not quite sure what he does, just wanted to know if our husbands worked together. I wish i could go to England so bad! SO many things in Europe i want to see.

[deleted account]

My husband is working on i think what they call break down and build up? Over in England he's been working on the Pave Helicopters when we met then transferred to the C130 Cargo planes. Jw's his name, he's really good, i guess you have been here a lot longer than us hence your husband goes out, but mine's not too worried about that at the moment. I feel for you hun because when over in England the work schedule was a lot more sporadic and he would work stupidly long hours, which caused us to fight a lot. It was easier on me as im English and could see my folks if he was working too much, but actually now i think about it its upsetting, i havent seen my family in nearly 3 months, its just filling full of dread if he starts those shifts again!
But on a high note, if the guys want to do their thing at the weekend, i think we could organise a little girlie night couldnt we?! Ha!
I went into the City this past weekend as it was my eeek, 27th birthday, and it seems ok actually. So maybe? xoxo

[deleted account]

Aww, my husband was like "OMG donna you found friends?" We've been arguing alot since he goes out with his friends on the weekend and i don't know anyone so i just sit at home 99% of the time, kairi is fun to hang out with but talking to a 2 year old gets old :p. What does your husband's do?

[deleted account]

Oh bless her heart, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her from us too. God im gonna sound like an idiot but i so have a lump in my throat now after just touching base with some of you, it has been really lonely here and just to add to that they want to put my husband on 12's, well i wouldnt mind but i know NOBODY so you can imagine how it would be with him tired, baby, puppy, housework, laundry, bla bla bla. Wow, and its only been a month. But thank you girls, i cant wait to get together, hopefully i'll start feeling a little better.
But anyway, today its all HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the sweet little birthday girl. xoxox

Hey Kat! My daughter is just 4 months older than yours, today is her birthday actually! I live in north Norman so I'm probably not very far from you. My email is steph.hall83@gmail.com and my cell number is 701-330-7633 I'd love to meet up with you sometime!

[deleted account]

Hmm, posted something big and long and the website ate it! But oklahoma is very confusing, i've lived her for 6 years and still lost, on where i'm going or what to do. I had to pick up a hobby since unless you have money its boring here. We have a lab too but got her as an adult from someone that had to be stationed overseas and couldnt afford to take her. I wish we could go overseas, would be neat, but i believe we are stuck in the states forever if it was up to my husband :p

[deleted account]

I know, i must be the only 27 year old not to drive in the universe, but once my visa stuff is all cool im getting it done, and already bought a GPS coz this country is CONFUSING!!! Lol! Thanks Donna it'll be great keeping in touch til your phone charger gets replaced... ha! My email's kittykatie1982@hotmail.com
Mines not so much my little girl but the labrador puppy we got a few weeks ago, man he is into everything! I really do have to have eyes in the back of my head, and of course look forward to being like that with Eloise. Wow. Well look forward to hearing/speaking to you. x

[deleted account]

Lol, my phone charger JUST got killed by my daughter, she decided to cut the cord, so thats out of commission till pay day lol. But welcome to Oklahoma :), it's pretty boring here ha ha... My little sister lives in Moore, But i check my email religiously so if ya wanna email and hang out im usually free, (depends on if my husband took the truck or not) x_d0nn4_x@yahoo.com

[deleted account]

Hi my name's Kat and i JUST moved here from England, my husband is Air Force and stationed at Tinker, we live in Moore and i have a bbg who just turned 8 months this week.
I have been desperate to meet some other mums and speak to someone other than my little girl (as much as i love it), and would be made up if you were to give me a call and hook up and hang out? Our cell is 806 994 1100.

Free dental would be great! I haven't been in like 3 years. I'm swamped the rest of the week cause Rachel's first birthday is on friday, but maybe we could meet up at one of the base parks next week if it isn't too hot out.

Free dental would be great! I haven't been to a dentist in like 3 years. Luckily I have really good teeth or that could be real bad. I'm swamped the rest of the week cause friday is Rachel's birthday but maybe we could meet up on base next week at one of the parks or something, if it isn't too hot out.

i love that room, i don't have to worry about gawkers, and its nice that Kai can have someone to play with when i go there. We had our house broken into in norman, they just kinda threw everything around nothing was taken but it sucked :(. With the BAH based on family some people might just keep having more kids just to have a nicer house, but then again tehre are always people wanting to abuse the system, the only thing i wish they changed is to let sposes/kids have free dental like our guys do :\

That makes sense. Mike will be a 1st LT in August so I'm sure there is a decent size difference. I think BAH should be based more on number of people in your family than on rank.
Our car was broken into right in our driveway one night and they took everything except the jumper cables. Generally it's a safe neighborhood nothing else has happened since, but it was still a bit scary. No one has tried the house though. There are 2 parks within walking distance, but I do with there was a free gym nearby!! :) I love that the base has that mommy and me room so I can bring Rachel.

[deleted account]

ahh, the officer housing project starts next year, i figured its cheaper here, since i dont have to worry about rent and if we have enough for all the electricity, and the safety of knowing no one will break in your house is nice. But our BAH is way low since aaron is only a a1c, lol. Hopefully he gets rank soon. Plus the gym is right there, and the parks its good for the kiddo and i know if she somehow gets out of sight, she wont be kidnapped, im paranoid though :p

Well, we don't qualify for the new houses cause my hubby is an officer and they haven't started redoing those yet; at least I don't think they have. They usually do enlisted first. I wouldn't mind living on base anyway actually but Mike, my husband, really prefers it off base cause you can make money off your BAH by renting a house for cheaper than what you get. We'll see if I can convince him. I have a good friend who lives on base and I know we would hang out more if it wasn't a 20 min drive to go see her.

[deleted account]

o that would be fun! I'm waiting for the new homes to be built so we can move it the houses are huge! and we just can't beat the rent on base :). Thats just really neat to finally know someone with a kid Kai's age :). We lived in norman before moving on base, down by ou. I would highly recommend moving on base, so you can get dibs on the new houses.

We live in Norman. I know what you mean about people with kids not understanding, especially since Rachel isn't on all table food yet and is still nursing. We're hoping to move closer to the base next year when our lease is up and I know that when school starts up again there will be a Mommy and Me group meeting on the base. I'm just not sure of the times yet.

evie's is the 28th...i understand, most of my friends don't have kids and it's so hard to relate and for them to understand things, esp. w/ a spouse in the military!

[deleted account]
