I am a Air Force wife but we will be there in September my husbands orders say Vogelweh but I really see that is a base lol just housing... I am so nervous!!!! Any advice will be amazing!!!! :)

I live in Mannheim. I have 5 month old twin girls. I like it here. The train is really close and it's really close to a lot of places. We don't have a car yet and I have lived here for just over a year while my husband was deployed. We are supposed to move to Schweinfurt next year sometime though because Mannheim is closing down by 2015. I'm pretty excited about that.

My sister lives in Baumholder. I was there for 2 weeks in June. It was nice there. She says there's not much to do. I don;t know what kinds of things they offer there or anything like that. I think baumholder is kind of a small post. It seemed like there were a lot of people there, but, like here, no on e really talks to each other unless they know each other. The commissary and PX are kinda small. They still have cool things there though. While I was there, they had a bazaar going on. I bought a lot of Polish pottery then..lol

Mannheim, really???
My husband just got orders there and so far I haven't been able to find ANYONE else who's there or will be there!
We still have a few months till we'll be there, since he is still deployed. But can you tell me anything about the town or the post. Anything really, I would love to at least have an idea of what it's like!

i'm born and raised in frankfurt, germany and married to an active duty army. we're now living in wiesbaden. if you have any questions or concerns about germany, its people, its culture, the places, the food, etc., just let me know! hope you'll like it here in germany. get out and explore the country and its surroundings. i don't recommend the USO tours bcoz they rush you in seeing those beautiful european sites. better travel on your own w/the family. you'll love it!

I'm in Bamberg Germany!!! You will def. make lots of friends. Just get out and if they offer PEP (people encouraging people) classes take them, if they offer German classes, take them. If they have PWOC (a woman's group at the chapel), do it.....that is how I have met all my friends. Now I stay so busy, that my weeks fly by. Have fun and travel as much as you can.

Im In Grafenwoehr Germany. My Husband is an MP. We were previously stationed in Hohenfels but we got our orders to move to Graf... Weve been in Germany since July 2007 . I dont think im anywhere near you though. Hope you enjoy Germany

Hey gurls... so my cousin is movin to Germany i think in like a month and a half and shes JUS getting married to her high school sweetheart who jus joined the army and i was wonderin.. for my aunt.. if theres a good base there.. n obviously good ppl around.. but i see there is jus lookin at your post.. but yea... dotn kno exactly where theyre gettin stationed.. i told her a lil bout the military life n what IVE experienced.. being a navy wife and all.. sum good sum bad... i tell her how it is(meaning my point of view and what ive gone thru and have seen.. being that weve been in n together for goin on 9 years..)so hope to hear from some of you and your gurls input..

k-town, I hope you find some one, it can really suck your first couple of months if you don't meet anyone. I would suggest talking to your chapel and find out when their PWOC is (protsestant women of the chapel) there is a retreat coming soon and you can meet up with everyone oin the region (k-town included). Good luck in finding friends.
