i have lived at this base for 2 1/2 years and have only met one woman with children, i really need to meet people for my daughter, she is 20 months.....its hard being separated from your close knit family and placed somewhere where you don't know anybody and spend a long time there still not knowing anybody, from what i can tell this base is not very popular, seems to be more of a retirement base if you ask me, but im stuck here for a while,

I wish I was there now! We were stationed there for 5 years and loved it! It really helped when I became a licensed childcare provider through the base(FCC). I met so many great people, was able to make some money and had kids for my little one to play with. It was great. You can live on or off base. Just an idea. :)

Oh yeah, the "super playground", I almost forgot! That was there already when we were stationed at Wright-Patt and my kids loved it!!!

Hi Amanda,

I am not at Wright Patt now, I left there 2 1/2 yrs ago to come to Aviano. When I was there I lived in base housing and there were little ones everywhere. The library had a story time for little ones. I don't know if you've checked into that at all but it's a great way to meet other mom's. They have a huge play ground, my kids called it the super playground...The big wooden one in what was "The Prairies" housing area, I think it's now the pet friendly TLF area or atleast part of it is. Anyway it's huge and where there is a playground there are children. My kids loved it there. Have you called the youth center to see what they offer along the lines of Mom & Tot programs? They used to have a lot of them. That too is a great way to meet other Moms and for your daughter to get the socialization she needs. I don't know if you're a church goer but the chapel there is one of the best I have ever been a part of. I personally am catholic, and Deacon Bob is the greatest! He knows the entire base population and can point you in the direction of anyone and everyone you could possibly be looking for. That base is great once you know how to tap into the right resources. Find the Airmen and Family Readiness Center too, they're a great resource as to what is availble to you as well. Simply call the base operator and they can either give you the number or connect you to any of these places. I'll tell you, I've been in Italy for almost 3 years now and I wish I'd never left Wright Patt. I loved it!

Sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time there. We were stationed at Wright-Patt a bit over 10 years ago and absolutely loved it!

Do you live on or off base?

Well, regardless... use all the available resources to the fullest... check at your local library (on and off base) as well es the rec centers to see what programs they offer. No matter were we've been stationed I found that there always were programs for toddlers on up... even if it's just story time it should give you the chance to meet other mothers with kids in your daughter's age group.

As for popularity of the base... well, let's say it this way, Wright-Patt is one of the largest and most mission diverse AF bases there are so I find it hard to believe that it nowadays could be more of a retirement base... tough I give you, there are quite a few retirees there just as at every bigger AFB.
