I really some help. im stationed in hawaii and my husband is stationed in japan. he was supposed to get orders here in april 2010 but now his detailer is saying no. i cant do the "single parent" thing plus fulfill my navy obligations anymore. so my question is does anyone know much about the family care plan policy and how being discharged due to a family care plan works? thanks!

it is considered an involuntary discharge. Just make sure that you make them know that your family care plan will no longer work. If you have to make something up then do it. I understand your situation. Talk to your chain they may work with you. It shouldn't take too long the only thing that will take a little longer is getting on your husband's orders. You will have to leave Hawaii and go home to your home of record, however as soon as your husband gets you on his orders for Japan you can get a ticket for you to get from your HOR to his duty station. That's what took the longest for me...and be careful Hawaii (at least on the Army side of the house) they take FOREVER to do anything and can be real assholes about some things. (I just got out of the Army in Hawaii on a pregnancy discharge on May 1st...my daughter was born May 11th!)
