I live in newport news. I go to fort eustis a lot because my daughter and that is where our primary care doctors are. If you ever want to meet for coffee or take the kids to the park just let me know!

My husband is in the Navy and works in yorktown. I have a 10 month old daughter if anyone wants to make a playdate or even just get together to talk! :)

Yes, I just love those stares. Tricare is crazy,but without daughter I have come to know the ins and outs of it fairly well. Is there a school on post?

Oh okay , that will be nice for her :) my little boy will be starting Kindergarten , I'm so nervous . The schools seem pretty good though .

I could definatly use someone to talk to Who knows the system . Sometimes people look at me like I have 5 heads when I ask certain things lol . I'm still trying to figure out tricare !!

Brett has been in 6 years next month ! Is this your first move ?

I'm not sure of the age cut off up there but she will at least be in per-k again. Being new to the army world can be really rough at first. I rem those days. If you have any questions I can try to help on that front. How long has your husband been in? Garrett has been in going on 5 yrs, but we have only been married for 3yrs.

We have been here for about a year.. me and my husband just got married though so as far as military life for me I'm new to that, I have a few girlfriends I've made over the year on post, but its difficult being a new wife I'm sure you've been there. I'm still learning who to go to for help with things, and with my husband leaving in a month things are crazy!

Thank you. Yes she is but also sad she will miss her best friend since birth. I am trying to get her to realize there are new friends and teachers and places and to be willing to make new friends. How long have you guys been up there?

Housing said they would help when we get the paper orders on Monday, I'll believe it when it happens. My husband is 91B. Are you required to have decals on your car up there or have they switched to being able to just have a military ID in the car?

The neighborhoods are hit and miss. It seems like if you go out the back gate, the houses and apartments back there arent as nice. Front gate is different. I know that sounds a little weird ! There are plenty of nice places though, especially with Williamsburg and Yorktown being so close.

Is the housing office going to help you guys find somewhere ?

My husband is 25C how about yours?

I haven't been to busch gardens since I was a kid it will be nice to go back. I love waterparks, it will be nice when those open. We are coming from Ft Campbell, KY. How is the neighborhoods around post incase we don't have a choice? The problem is we have to have wheelchair accessible for our daughter, so most apartments will not work for us. What is your husbands mos?

No not living on post we rent in Williamsburg . We are actually moving in to some apartments right around the corner from the main gate the first of June when husband leaves for Korea. Busch Gardens is already open here but we are waiting on water country :) the kids can do so much more !! It's nice to have it all so close ! Where are you coming from ?

Eventually we will love on post, but as of right now there is no Ada housing available. So we don't know where we live in 2weeks. Do you live on post? Yea my 4 yr old might sit thru story time, my other 2 won't yet. The parks are already open down here, we love going.

Lisa I will absolutely :) will you be living on or off post ? I've heard Of a few library story time groups , my children don't exactly sit still for long enough during the day to listen to a book :/ lol no harm in trying it out I guess . Anything beats Hanginv out at the house ! We are looking forward to the parks opening next mth .

I need to go to the CDC and find out how that whole thing works next week. I too will be attending school again in the Fall when my son starts Kindergarten and hopefully working soon, so I'm hoping that will make time go by a little faster.

Just feeling overwhelmed right now I think, with so many new changes about to take place!

There are plenty of activities that you can find on base for moms and kids. I have a 5 year old boy (also a 15 and 10 year old). He is in school though at the CDC on Yorktown base(there is one on ft eustis as well). I work part-time as a nurse and attend school for my Psych degree as well as take care of the kids and the house so that makes their time away fly by. My husband is navy and we live outside that base right down the road but there are other moms here that are looking for playdates so give it time.
