Hello, my family is moving to the area and I was wondering if anyone goes to playgroups. I have a 2 year old daughter. I'm also looking for mommy friends. I like crafts (knitting, sewing, needle felting), natural living, Waldorf education, and shopping. :)

Updating - We now live in Adams! :-) I love the small town atmosphere. :-) If anyone lives in/near Adams and wants to get kids together for play, let me know! We're buying our first swing-set next week!! yay! I have a 4 1/2 year old and a one year old - both rough & tumble boys. :-)

Spring is almost here!! This is my first Spring/summer here so I'm not sure what all there is to do yet but we plan to be at the park a lot!! The farmers markets have some good stuff too. I take the kids to the library on post on Fridays after my daughter gets out of school, my son and I go to the one downtown from time to time too. I'm pretty sure the one in Watertown has story time

Hmmm, I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Hey ladies, updating, I moved to Gouverneur. Those of you who live here or know people who live here, help! I'm getting stir-crazy not knowing anyone up here. I am SAHM and have an 18 month old son and a house full of crazy pets. Haha. I live off Factory Street.

I'm PCSing there next month! any suggestions for housing off-post? We need a place that is friendly for two rambunctious boys and two feathered friends (parrots). :-)

Hey I think I was in a different post with some of you ladies with a different profile ...that one got deleted (?) but this is my new one. I just arrived at Drum 12 September and we'll be living in Evans Mills right behind WalMart. My son is 1. Also, I do babysitting ...lol, just throwing that out ... :). I'm considering doing FCC but I can't get ahold of anyone and since I'm offbase, I may just do it anyway and get CPR recertification through RedCross or something. But I do babysit! Right now we're living in Watertown while our townhouse if finishing being built. Does anyone know about Mommy & Me classes or Baby Sign Language classes?

I'd love to get them together for a play date. Plus it's always nice to meet a new mommy in the area and one with kids about the same age is an added plus. I'm pretty flexable with when I could meet up so let me know what works for you and we can go from there.

Aww that is great. I wish I could say the same thing for my husbands mom. I am close to his step dad but not so much to his mom. I think we should get together for a play date though. I think your boys and my girls would have a ball together.

Black River is small and not all that exciting but thats why we love it. Were on a nice quite road in the middle of the country and it's alot like the towns my husband and I both grew up in. I guess I lucked out with my in-laws. My husbands mom can be a little nuts but for the most part we get along well. His dad and step-mom are GREAT! I'm almost as close to his step-mom as I am to my own mom.

I will be doing the books for the Junction Inc and Junction Boys. It will be nice cause it is only M-F so I am looking forward to still having my nights and weekends with them. I don't think I have ever been to black river in the 2.5 years we have been here. that is really good that you are close to your family, mine is over 17 hours away and my hubby's is all in Mexico. and some in Cali. So we don't ever really see them, which I am not to upset about.. You know how it is with the in-laws.. hahaha.

Quoting Amber:
Wow you guys have been here a long time. I hope that we aren't here forever. I am just glad that my husband only has 3.5 yrs to retire. Hopefully after next deployment next year we are outta here. but maybe we can get together some time for a play date. it would be nice for my girls to have some friends their own age. I start working on monday but I am yet to find a sitter for them while I work. It sucks... Are you a stay at home or do you work??
Yeah were glad we haven't done any moving around other then in the area. Were close to family (well 4 hrs but thats as close as you can get for where they are)so being here has been a good thing. My husbands getting out next November after 8 1/2 years and going to work for DES. He'll be able to work for them for 20 years and retire as if he had worked for 28 so it works out I guess. It would be nice to get together. The boys are always ready to meet to kids and have people to play with. I'm a stay at home and working mom. I am home with the boys during the day and work a few nights a week at the YMCA in Watertown. My oldest started pre-K this year so he's gone for a few hours each afternoon which is the perfect time for my youngest to nap and for me to have some mommy time...lol. Where will you be working?

Yeah the drive is long but at least there are things to do in the area. Some of the towns up here are middle of nowhere. He just didn't want to drive through the snow belt.

Hi, I live by Drum also. I live in Gouverneur. We got stationed here in 2007 but I grew up in Oswego, so I am familiar with the area. I have a 3 year old girl, 21 month old boy, and 4 month old b/g twins.
