Hello everyone! We are PCSing to Meade in late July/early Aug about 8 weeks before baby #3 is to arrive!! Hope to live on post, but as I understand there is a waiting list as of now, so who knows!! Curious if anyone can recommend a great preschool, preferably faith-based, for our 4 y/o daughter and 2 y/o son. Our daughter will be 5 in early Dec. so will have to wait until the 2011 school year for kindergarten! I have found a couple on-line with approx. 30 min. commutes; is that about average for the area? Also, any info. any of you would like to share about the base/area would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Hey Whitney! Thanks for letting me know. How did you find your house? As I said, we are REALLY hoping to live on-post, but have to keep the options open!! I would love to keep in touch! You can give me the scoop on things before we get there!

hey im moving there in under a month... we're going to be living off base actually in elkridge ( 9 miles north). and my son will be in daycare @ kindercare in columbia :) they have a great program and they're opening the brand new 2 y/o old room in 2 weeks which is great because my son will be starting june 1 while im in school. they are also part of NACCRA which subsides payment for military families who need off base childcare because base is full.

We were there for three years and I loved it. There are a lot of churches that run preschool and even elementary school programs. We also went down to D.C all the time for the free Zoo and Museums. I hope you like it there!

I am not at Meade, but grew up in MD, about 45 min from there...It is a great place to live..Lots to do... Cost of living is higher. Pay more attention to mileage than commute times. The BW parkway, 95, etc are very congested and depending on time of day, 10 miles can be 30 minutes...
