Hi! My name is Tonya and I live in Clinton, Utah. About 10-15 min from Hill AFB. I was active duty for a while but recently got out of the military. I am still in Utah as my husband works on base. I have 2 little boys, Isaiah, 5 and Elijah, 3. I am also looking to get to know people better and make new friends. Play dates are great too. If you would like to have lunch or something then just send me an email!

i was pregnant when my husband deployed while we were here. i never looked into the discount things though. but i do know that there are things that you can get discounted on. i would ask at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. they might be able to give you the information you are looking for!

Have any of you been through a deployment while you've been at hill afb? My husband is deploying this summer and i heard that you can get family discounts while they are deployed. Im just wondering where you have to go and what the processes is to get these discounts. I hear every base is different, but discounts vary from oil changes to day care.

not all the houses have basements. only a few of them do. ours just happens to have one. i dont know about the indoor pool. in fact, i didnt know there was an indoor pool!

and i know there are a bunch of classes at the gym (which is VERY nice by the way) that they offer. i have been wanting to take a yoga class, but we only have one car and i dont have any one to watch my baby. the old gym has a small daycare like thing where you can bring your kid (they have to be a certain age though and i dont know what that is). but i know they have the spin class, yoga, pilates, and all kinds. i need to get my butt back in shape too. haha.

when are you supposed to be coming out?

Awesome! The lady (Sumer I believe) said that if we wanted to she can put our name down for that townhouse. And it will be ready in time for us. I'm not as concerned about the way the outside looks, but as long as the inside is nice I'm good. Yeah, yellow isnt the nicest color but hey, what can we do about that lol! But yeah I read that the new houses cant be painted. I wanted to be able to so I wasn't really wanting a bran new home you know? Not being able to paint and make it your own makes it not feel like a home.

There are basements in the houses? I've never had a house with a basement! Lame I know I am all excited about a basement! The indoor pool is that open seasonally or year round? Do you know if there are any like boot camp style classes at the gym? I need something to kick my butt into shape!

we live in one of the renovated ones. the outside is not as nice as the outside of the new ones, but they are definitely not bad. they have a single car garage and are a yellowish color. the cool thing about these ones, is that we can paint in them. They are not allowing anyone to paint in the new ones. we live in a two bedroom 1 1/2 bath. It has a very spacious laundry room and ours has a pretty big basement. It is only semi finished, so it is pretty much good for storage. but we made some big changes. nothing we cant put back, but we wanted it to be like home if we are going to be here for a few years. depending on the house you get, the backyard can be big or really small. we were fortunate and we have a HUGE backyard. what sucks is that HWY 193 is right behind the house so you can see it and it gets loud all the time. if you have any other questions, let me know.

There are a lot of things to do here. the winter time...not so much. but there are all kinds of museums to go to, wildlife things, camping, etc.

Awesome, thanks. I ended up calling up Boyer Hill and right now the time that we are getting there it is one of the renovated townhomes available. What are those like, if you know? All I know is that I will need stuff to do, I cannot sit around the house anymore! LOL

Brittney,

yes.. all the houses have fenced in backyards. they are half sized chain link fences but they are all enclosed. that goes for new, and old housing. so you dont have to worry about a fence!

I am actually from Utah. My hubby and I are stationed in California right now. I am lucky enough to be moving back home (Utah) in a few months. All of my close friends have married men in the service and no longer live in Utah. I want to make knew friends when i get home. I have a one year old who really needs someone besides myself to play with.

Just was wondering, do any of you know how often the 388 deploys? That's where my hubby is being placed in May and I was curious. And in the newer base housing are there fences already put up? I know in some privatized housing they have fencing already.

we live on base. the housing is not too bad. They are in the process of putting up a bunch of new houses and tearing the old ones down. Good thing is, if you move here, you wont get into the old ones. I am part of the Military Spouses group and the stay at home moms group. i love it. This base is not too bad. i just need to venture out some more.

My husband just got orders there. How is the base housing there? We'd like to move back on base when we get there. This is my first time PCSing to another base and it sucks because I am a stay-at-home mom and I won't know anyone. It would be good to get to know some people ahead of time. Even though things could change at anytime.

Hey! I'm at Hill AFB. Do you live on base or off?? We've been here for almost a year- a year in April. It's hard to venture out here, its so different from what I'm used to atleast. I have twin 2 year old daughters. My husband is deployed right now. There are some groups you can join- enlisted spouse or officer spouse and stay at home moms and also if your husbands squadron might have a spouse thing. My husband is in the 729 so we have a spouse group we get together every month. I always like to get out and go walk around the mall or target haha.. I spend way too much money at Target. If you have children theres a great park in Layton.. Message me!!!

I'm at Hill. We've been here for 2 years. Do you live on or off base? We live on base. I have two kids, 2 and 11 months. I've trying to be more active and get out more just for the sake of not going crazy. LOL. Anyway, message me sometime!

lol! I hear you. Since my husband's unit pretty much lives in the area where he's based, I'm a loner wife here in Tooele. We actually live about an hour and half to two hours away from Hill, but find ourselves always going to Hill for something. I love to shop, even if it's window shopping at the PX. I keep telling him that we need to move there since we're there so much. So I feel your pain of not venturing out much & don't know many fellow Military Spouses.
