How can I get the schooling I need without the proper finances or support?

I have a 6 1/2 month old and my husband is currently deployed. I am taking classes online through UMUC, because we are overseas. I take all my classes online, so there fore i dont need a sitter, and I work on my school work while my daughter is napping or in the evening when she goes to sleep. MyCAA is a big help! You get 6k (which you already know from previous post) to use towards school. There is alot of things out there for military spouses. Im sure the GI Bill will be a big help. Keep your head up Kim. you can try to apply fro mycaa it is a military grant that works with online and capus schools well certain ones and they will give you 6000$ for school

Ok i jsut tried a link a girl provided up there and my virus/security thing came up saying there is a problem with sites security certificate and to close my borwser adn not continue to this site...i guess i wont try this...good luck to everyone:)

With the My Caa i was just wondering if anyone has graduated and is working after doing one of the medical coding online courses. I have never heard of this progrma before and now i'm curious if you can find work after doing it,if so i'm going to do it.

In Canada, if you can prove that there is demand for what you wish to go to school for unemployment will pay fro school and child care. Look in to your local office to se if there is anything in place where you are. Also see if tehre is anything through the military. Our MFRC offers courses for military spouses at a lower price.

if you got to www.mycaa.com and fill out the info for u and your hubby you can get 6,000 for school its free as long as one of yall r in the military..

Are you military? How is your husband unemployed? Check out The Career Advancement Account and MyCaa.com you can get up to $12000 for school free. Also contact Fleet and Family Support if you are Navy.

There are many ways the military has gaven us to go to school there is a c.c.a account and there is also MANY MANY MANY grants to mothers trying to go to school . you just need to find a councler at the collage witch you want to attend and start gathering info . start filling out your fasfa with is free money every one gets and work from there . And just rember you are the only one who can give your self what you need , i know how hard it is to have no money and no support but you can do it , every thing happends for a reason :) good luck

Thank you all so much for your input. I have applied to a few schools online and my husband has been applying to a few jobs and should finally be collecting unemployment soon! We are also working on transferring his GI BILL to myself! What is MyCAA? My husband is a bit selfish so any information that could benefit anyone other than himself he keeps to himself (We've started counseling...).

I agree with Lucy, put yourself out there to be available to babysit, and look into some online schools. Although you said that your DH is unemployed, but he just got back from Iraq. Did he ETS? Is going back to the military an option for him? The MyCAA money is only available to military spouses. Yes, education is important, but if you have a child and you and your DH have no income, then I would put school to the side for now and find a job so you can financially support your family.

I taking online course called careerstep.com. My Caa pay for it. Along your a military spouse they will pay for your school. I think up to 6 thousand.

i called the university of phoenix.. you can get financial aid as well as getting mycaa for military dependents that will pay $6000 towards school for you, the UOP also give you a discounted rate for college because of your dependent status... you can get an associates degree in 20 months and start working after that in whatever field you choose.

My first instinct is to suggest online school and child care. I am currently in school online and it is good because you don't have to go to class and you can work on it after your daughter goes to bed. Job wise, I would look for a nanny type position. I work, and the woman that takes care of my daughter while I am at work also has 2 children. I drop my daughter off at her house and she cares for all three children. This way you could start to generate an income without a car. Also, if your husband is unemployed, can he take care of his own child while you are generating an income?
