Hey everyone. I wanted to get a wives point of view about the army. My husband has been in the Marines for about 7 years.... 2 more years before reenlisting and he is thinking about going green instead. He is looking into the Warrent Officer program to fly choppers. What do you think about army life? Has anyone moved from Marine to Army before. Just trying to deciede wiether it would be best for our family. Thanks all!

My husband has been in the Army for 8 years he had just re-enlisted during his last deployment and we love it. We also have alot of friends who were Marines who had switched and they love both branches but they all say that they feel like the Army cares about them and their famly more However they do like how the Marines was more strict. Switching also would have a perk your hubby would gain a rank.

I have a brother-in-law who moved from Navy to Army. Of course, between the two he went to college and will not go into the Army as an Officer.

Good luck with the decison and hopefully you guys decide what's best for your family. My husband is doing the blue to green program in December. He is switching over from the Navy to the Army. We are actually excited because the Navy life just hasn't been for us. We both grew up Navy Brats, but we are ready for a change. Granted delpoyments are longer for Marines and Army but I can handle it. Just keep in mind that Military life is what you make regardless of the branch. Good Luck!

I'm an army wife and I think it's wonderful. I think that if he wants to that he should be supported in his decision since he's doing it to make you a better life. You're taken care of in the army.

My father was in the Army all of growing up. We hated it! They didn't seem to care about the families at all. Then when I was 21 I married a man in the Air Force and it was seriously the difference of night and day! However, it doesn't mean that the army is all bad from the family conversations now my father promoted much quicker. So there is some give and take with any branch. I defiantly prefer the Air Force though! Good Luck

hey there.. My husband is a E-6 in the army and I guess we cant complain to much, because we don't know any better.. I do know that after spending 5 years with the man that the last thing I try to do is trying to understand the army because it gives you a headache.. I also had several people tell me that the housing from the marines is way better then the ones on the army bases...

Thank Mallory... I like the Marine corp and am invovled with spouses and I am a preschool teacher at one of the bases cdc. And you were lucky that you only got 7 month deployments. I had one 9 months, and am on my 2 year ones. I am hoping he decides to stay Marine. I dont think he will like any but the Marine way of life.

Oh and the deployments are longer so if your goal is to see hubby more the marines is a def way to go.. when my husband was in the marines he deployed three times but they were only 7mnths long.. he is about to deploy for a year which is crazy...

Ok please please listen to me.. my husband just spent 5 years in the Marines and for some reason decided to switch to the army! And let me just say that after a year of the army is a year to long. If your husband wants to switch and change the army tell him there is a lack of respect, they are sloppy sometimes, it is unorganized and my husband truly wishes he could switch back.. Like I try to explain to people the Marines is take care of the marine and then he or she will make the family happy, the army is take care of the family and they will make the solider happy.. saying that the army treats the soliders way differently than the Marines. Now not everything about the army is horrible, I dont sit around and complain about it everyday, I am the FRG leader on base and I am very involved, I just wanted to say that my husband says it was the biggest mistake switching over and like everyone says ONCE A MARINE ALWAYS A MARINE. So if your husband has a def plan then maybe he would like it and be happy but just tell him to really look into it, maybe take a tour or someting prior.. Good Luck and like I said the army is not that bad I am just used to certain standards that I dont see in the Army..

Kwala and Jillian, Thanks for some answers... My husband would be going in as a E-5 or higher since he is that now. Promomtions in the Marines are hard to get and can take a couple years to get. Not really concern about the deployments... Marines get deployed alot. He has only been home for 5 month out of the last 2 years and we still have about 6 more months to go on this one... Thanks again... we are still talking about it as a choice.

My hubby was in the Navy before switching to the Army. He seems to like the army. I think, for families, the army offers way more programs and things. I'm not sure how it is in the Marines, but it is very easy as far as promotions go. In the Navy, it was harder to get promoted so that's a plus. Deployments would probably be longer, so that is something to think about. I'm not sure if any of that helped, but I hope it did and good luck!

my husband enlisted in the army as an E-1 almost 2 1/2 years ago, he is now E-4 promotable. he plans on going warrant in the maintenance field. we really enjoy being in the army so far. my husband says that many Marines move to the army, and the aviation warrant program is an excellent field to get in to. ultimately it is totally your choice, but i hope this helps!
