My name is Shantelle, friends and family call me Shauna. I'm originally from Baton Rouge, LA but have lived in many different places in the south from San Antonio, TX to Destin, FL. I'm 27, 28 in March, I have career goals but am strictly a stay at home lady til my kids are old enough to suffer through my college experience (lol). My husband has not particularly chosen a branch yet but he is 29 and the choice will be made within the week. Most likely, between the Air Force and the Army. My children are Julian (boy, 8), and Lorelai "Rory" (girl, 3). I am not ridiculously new to the military, spending my teenage years in Fort Walton Beach, FL, I was surrounded by many military installations, and those military brats that I love so much and went to school with. My family moved around a lot growing up, so moving every year to couple of years is not new at all either. No idea what really to expect from military life, being a wife or mama, but I'm hoping to get to know people who can prepare me and support me through all of this. Signed, Scared Silly!

Hello I am a navy wife and we been stationed in Norfolk VA for 10 years. My husband and I are from the same town which is Lancaster SC. We have two girls 10yrs old and 15 months and I have been through so many deployments alone and I can say it's been really hard. I have met a few females but I cant say that they were really good friends. I really would like to meet someone that I can relate to. I love to go shopping, out to eat and manly girly stuff lol..... My husband keeps telling me that I need to find me some friends to go out with so I can get some time for myself but its sad to say I dont have any. Can someone please give me some pointers on what I should do about this????

Hey everyone! I'm Chelsea, and 23 yrs old. My husband just joined the Air Force and left for BMT this week. We have a beautiful 6 month old daughter! I'm currently in Virginia spending a few months with my family, before we end up who knows where. :) I'm obviously new to the military and motherhood, so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated! Hi everybody, my husband is Army and just went back active duty after being reserve for 2 years. His next duty station is Ft. Bliss. I have no idea when I will be heading over there yet...



We have two little boys, 2 and 4 years old. We currently live in Belgium.



I have never pcs'ed before, so this is going to be very new to me, I will have a lot of questions!

Everything else army-wife related will need some refreshing, but I think (hope) it comes back to me soon. I know it will be different though because the whole time we have been married he has been stationed at Ft. Sill where all his family is, and I had a lot of friends there before I moved.



I hope to get to know some other mommies at Ft. Bliss!!

I am a prior military wife and now a military mom of a son stationed at Ft. Bragg and a daughter who is prior USAF. We have 4 other children who are grown and on their own and we have 7 grandchildren. I work from home as a marketing/advertising rep for a great company that always looking for people who are motivated to helping others. The team work is great and we love helping others to success.

I'm Annette and I am an Army/National Guard wife of five years. We live in Rockwall Texas and Steven and I have a one year old named Summer Rayne who will turn two this coming November 24th and we are expecting our second child whose due date is March 12th, 2013. We haven't discovered the gender of our second baby just yet-we had to reschedule the sonogram appointment for Halloween because the sonogram-technican was scheduled for Vacation time. Boo for us-that was our trick, but finding out what the baby is so we can end the Name Wars of 2012 at least for one gender will be our treat. The way I see it, I win either way the cookie crumbles because I am so blessed to be a Mummy at all. We were told we couldn't have children-now that we are on our second kiddo I snap my fingers at the doctors who said so and and say, 'Kiss my tooshie! We just proved you wrong TWICE!' We are a Christian family and even though working in Retail makes it tough work getting to church on Sundays sometimes, I always say my prayers, read my bible and give God Thanks for all of His many Blessings, including my little Miracles whom I like to call my Munchkin and my littlest Munchkin. I love being a Mummy and I love being a Military wife. I work at a bookstore(I am a self proclaimed Bibliomaniac-a person who LOVES books and reading) and I love cooking, singing, dancing, doing all sorts of Arts&Crafts with my kiddo, watching movies-in fact I'm not sure if there is a hobby I DON'T like. LOL If you want to know more, I hope to make friends and hear from you!

Hello! My name is Ashley. My husband was active duty in the Army for 8 years, he came home, we met, got married, joined the reserves (because active was not an option at the time). Now we are in the process of returning to active duty so he can finish out his career in the military. He was 18 when he joined the army and he loved it, It was his life. We have 3 children ages 6, almost 5, and 9 months. I've never been too far from family, so I am nervous but excited to see where this will take us!

Hi My name is Sue. My youngest son was just deployed to the Middle East September 25, 2012. He's in the Air Force and has been in over two years. This is his first deployment. I have to say that he may be in one of the (my perception) safer deployments as it is in Oman (Guam would be a better one for me :-) ) but I recognize the area is very unstable and anything could happen at any time. This is what is the most scary for me.



I'm very proud of him and was initially not happy that he enlisted because of the war but it only took seeing him in basic graduation to know that this was for him, a conscious decision that he made and one that I was proud of because he made a decision based on the values that we raised him.

Are there any other parents on the forum that has had children deployed that can give me perspective? How changed are they when they return?



I'm a social worker and have worked with families who have not been in the direct combat zone who have PTSD. I can honestly say I understand you don't have to go around the world to experience this but I don't understand how this happens and what the conditions are that create this. I also recognize the living environment is very different (I think) from what they are used to but I don't know or understand how to put it together.

My husband has been gone now for 1year and 8months.

Ive seen him only 4 times very brief during this time because of him being stationed in Italy.

Im still in the process of trying to be with him and we are trying everything..

Hi out there, my name is Christine am I am a mom of two amazing boys :)

One of with is in the marines he is getting ready to graduate c-school the end of this month and we have no idea where he will be stationed as of yet...

he is in NAS Jacksonville, FL. right now but getting anxious..lol he has leave coming up October the first couple weeks and I can not wait to see him!! He was in pensacola, FL for a-school for several months and promoted to lance corporal over there. I am one proud mama! He is in school for engineering.

I saw this sight and thought it was for mom of military but if not that's ok.

I am proud but also a nervous wreck too... my other son is only 3. and I am am hoping we can move closer to where he is stationed. I have no ties so we shall see. we have a very small family :)
