Is anyone in stationed in Pensacola? We got orders and will be moving there in August. I would appreciate any information regarding where to live, schools - the good and bad. I have two kiddos in elementary school.

We have been stationed at Hurlburt Field for 5 years now. We live in Navarre, FL which about 20 min from Pensacola and love it here. The schools in Santa Rosa are grt. My children are at Holley Navarre Schools and really love it. My son is starting Middle school this year and daughter will be starting the Intermediate Sch (3-5). Good luck with your move!!

We just moved to the Pensacola area in December 2011. I went to www.greatschools.org (I think that was the website) to look for good schools in the area. At the time I had one in high school and one in middle school...so I don't really know about the elementary level, but we moved to Pace because the schools had a really good rating here. Gulf Breeze did as well, but you would deal will a lot of beach traffic there. The downside to Pace is that it takes SO LONG to get anywhere. It's a 45 minute drive for my husband to get to work. Rent here isn't too bad. Good luck with your move!

I lived in Pensacola a couple of years ago, I love East Hill its a great area close to downtown and the bases! The areas that surround the base is not so nice but its pretty safe! Pensacola has tons of festivals down town, like art festivals and music. They also have music and movie in the park, I cant remember what days it is but its in a park down town and everyone brings a lawn chair and wine! I didnt have children when I lived there so I cant really help with that but If you need to know any good places to eat or go out for a drinkl I'm there! there is a website that has all the lastest stuff going on its pensacolatodo.com! I live about an hour away so I go often! They have tons of nice subdivions with decently priced rent! the base housing doent look really nice from the outside but I have never been inside them.
