Hola! im a remote certified medical coder, certified thru AHIMA and have my BA in communications. Getting my post BA in Health Information for the RHIA certification. Medical coding is a great way to go, however, working remotely doesnt happen overnight. Most companies want Inpatient Certification, RHIT (associates) RHIA (bachelors) with years experience. Ive been coding for Military facilities, county, private doctors for 9 years before I got a work from home position. I need to get my RHIA certification to allow me more flexibility to work for any inpatient hospital. Most work from home positions require for you do meet a quota. Most remote position ask you to provide your work schedule and you report to a supervisor just like a regular job. I drop off my babies at daycare and from 830- 430 and i treat it like a office job because the program we use tracks productivity, claims submissions, how long you are on the program, login and log out and time of last activity. I was also a advanced coding instructor part time. If you are going to research coding schools, check out AHIMA and AAPC websites to help and make sure the programs are approved by CAHIM. Check out CAHIM.org to help you with your research. Wishing you luck on your endeavors! :)

I'm a Tupperware mom and a HomeSchool mom. I love that I am able to do both quite successfully! The flexibility that both opportunities provide is perfect for wanting to contribute financially to the family but be there 100% for your kids at all times.

Give me a hollar honey! Mary Kay all the way! :D
In all seriousness, there's a ton of jobs these days you can do from home. I personally am a huge fan of Mary Kay because the company takes such good care of its consultants.
